After graduating from CHS, I went to Europe with a choir. Upon my return, I spent the summer working for Esther Hollandsworth cooking for the farming crew. That fall I enrolled at MSU in Bozeman. After only one quarter, I moved to Helena to work for an insurance company for the remainder of the year. My reason, of course, was to be near my fiance, Dan McLean (Brady '66). I worked the next summer on the farm of again, to be close to Dan. The next year, I went to Carroll College with Dan. We were married that summer (June 22, 1968) in Conrad. In the fall, we moved to Bozeman (MSU) and both attended classes. I went on to get my BME (Bachelor of Music Education) and Dan got his degree in Agronomy with a minor in Vocational Agriculture. But after his student teaching, he decided that he would never step foot in the classroom again. He then stared work on his Master's degree in Soils.

Dan took his first job with the Soil Conservation Service as a soil scientist in Ennis. We lived there for 5 years. While there, he finished his Master's Degree and we traveled to Europe for 6 weeks. Luke Daniel McLean was born to us in 10-29-76 in Bozeman.

Dan was then promoted to "party leader" of a soils crew in Baker, Montana. Our second son Matthew Lyle McLean was born 7-17-78, 9 months after we arrived in Baker. We bought a beautiful brick house and enjoyed raising the boys in a "small town". I had started a photography studio out of my home in Ennis and continued in Baker. I went on to become the first and only woman President of the Montana Professional Photographers. I was privileged to be involved with the Tri-State Area Theatre (Bowman, ND). I sang the lead in "South Pacific" and "Guys and Dolls". I was the musical director of "Annie Get Your Gun". I also started community choirs in Ennis and Baker. Both choirs are still going today, some 25 years later.

We did a lot of traveling when the boys were young and in 1991, I took Matt and Luke by myself for 2 months to Europe, Russia and Uzbekistan. I had supervised foreign exchange students for 5-6 years and the trip was to meet their families. While in Spain, we attended the Olympics in Barcelona and Matt was thrilled to get a ticket to go see Germany vrs. the "original Dream Team". Besides most of the countries of Europe, we have traveled to Hawaii, Bahamas, Mexico, Honduras and Guatemala. I still want to go back to Norway and visit all 4 farms that my Torske great grandparents came from. I have been doing genealogy and have gotten back pretty far on both sides of my family. Haven't started on Dan's family yet.

When Luke was in the 6th grade and Matt in the 4th, Dan was promoted again to the State Office in Bozeman. Now he is at a desk job. He really enjoyed the "filed"work while he had it. Saw a lot of country. In Bozeman, we again found a beautiful brick home near the University. We have been here over about 11 years now. I taught a special position in 7 elementary schools for 9 years. i started my "santa" business here in Bozeman and it is still going strong. I discovered the "internet" in 1995 and have been with it ever since. I produced my own site, sites for all 7 elementary schools and I now am a web designer for customers from Texas to New Jersy to Alaska to California and in between. I seem to specialize in doll related sites and artist sites....although I have a few other clients, too. I especially like working for GADCO (The Great American Doll Company--producers of "artist dolls") of Orange, California. I produce and maintain their site and I also do their internet customer service.

My Santa internet site has been a very exciting thing. This will be my 4th season on the internet and have made some wonderful friends from all over the world. Last season I was getting around 2,000 people a day to my site and I average 400-500 people a day now. I hope you get to explore my site sometime.

Luke graduated from Bozeman High School in 1995 and went to MSU-Great Falls College of Technology. He graduated in a course of Auto Body. After living in Cut Bank for a short time, he moved to Wisconsin and is now employed at Burger Boat-- where they make "yachts" that are worth $5-15 million. He lived in Manitowoc and Dan and I had a great time last May on our visit out to see him. We miss him terribly, tho!

Matt graduated from Bozeman High School in 1997 and has been living here at home with us attending MSU-Bozeman. But he is a "guitar" player and has been playing in a band called "Pounding Would" before 3 of the guys decided to get married. He would love to be involved in the music scene in some capacity....business wise or production wise. He wants to travel to Seattle and check out some schools out there.

Dan and I enjoy spending many of our weekends just outside of Lincoln where his mother has a cabin that we maintain. I have started a "reforestation" project on our 3 acres and now maintain about 400 trees. It takes me 2 days just to water them all! But the area has been hit hard by the "bark beetles" and most of the old timber is dying. Someday we will have 3 acres of forest and all around us will probably be bare.

Dan will probably be retiring in 4-5 years. I don't know what he will be doing, although he loves to go to garage sales and antique stores. He is especially interested in old tools. We have a "garden" of old rusted tools in the backyard for him. I enjoy collecting my dolls and turn of the century Olde World Santa postcards....among many other things. I keep so busy I will never get everything done in this life-time. We enjoy doing things with Terry Sutherland and his wife Denise who also live here in Bozeman.

If you are ever in our area, please do stop by and see us. We are easy to find and usually home.

BEST WISHES FOR THE NEW MILLENNIUM!!

10-02-02 Update:

Well, a lot has happened since I started this three years ago.... Luke got married to a gal with two children in December of 1999. He is now working in the body shop of the Ford Garage in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. They are now the proud parents of a little boy, Aaron Zachary, born 10-16-01. He has his own website: http://geocities.datacellar.net/aaronzmclean. Matt has worked at a music store in Portland for the past 2 and a half years and is now headed to Full Sail to study Recording Arts in Orlando, Florida. I still make Santas and and design websites and Dan still works for NRCS.

That's all for now, folks.......

7-26-04 Update:

Luke and family moved back into the Bozeman/Belgrade area in the spring of 2003. He works as an autobody man at Courtesy Auto Body in Bozeman. Matthew graduated in the top 10 of his class with an Associate degree in Recording Arts from Full Sail in Orlando, FL. He then moved to Seattle where he sells guitars at Guitar Center, is doing two internships with two private recording studios and still finds time to do free-lance recording in the Seattle area. Dan retired from the NRCS June 1, 2004. He and Terry Sutherland continue to do the antiques and collectibles booth together for fun. I still make Santas and do webdesign work.
