Roseanna Bell

1881 - 1946

Roseanna Belle was born on May 5, 1881 in Hickman County, TN.  She married first, Jasper Buchanan January 27, 1901 in Hickman County. This marriage produced  2 daughters, Etta Mae and Ruby. She and her second husband, Clarence Ledbetter, the uncle of her son-in-law, Jim McDaniel, had 3 children, Cullom, Emma & George William

Roseanna died on May 14, 1946 in Bon Agua, Hickman, Tennessee and is buried in the church cemetery on Missionary Ridge in Bon Aqua, Hickman, Tennessee.

Roseanna was the  "midwife" in the Missionary Ridge community of Hickman Co.  Tending to the births, aches, pains, fevers, accidents  and deaths of her neighbors, family and friends.

According to family lore,  Roseanna left Jasper after their daughter Etta's birth, returning to her parents home.  Supposedly he slapped Roseanna around and when he came to retrieve his wife and daughter, her mother, Olive Carone, objected so hard that Roseanna and baby Etta stayed behind

and a divorce was obtained at sometime .  Some say the birth of the second daughter Ruby, came after the her birth and some say before.  I have come across several researchers of Jasper's line that didn't know he had been married to Roseanna Beasley, nor that he had two daughters from this union.
