John Heron b: Ireland 1617, came to America in 1635 and married a young lady named Elizabeth, borned in England in 1623; her maiden name is not known for sure. She and John prospered and had 4 sons and daughter. This family lived on a 124 acre farm in Elizabeth City, County Virginia which is now in the area of Hampton Roads, Virginia. They lived there until John died, at which time Elizabeth sold the land and went to live with her oldest son, Patrick, who lived in Danville, Virginia. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Hugh Heron and his wife Polly had three sons and two daughters. Hugh moved from Elisabeth City to near Danville, Virginia shortly after his marriage and started a very profitable lumbering and furniture business. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Iradel married Elizabeth McBane who had come from Scotland. They had 3 sons, Alexander, Delaney and Asberry and two daughters; Bette and Polly. Alexander Heron was a captain during the war of 1812 in charge of a regiment during the Revolutionary War and was twice rewarded for his having been successful at King's Mountian, North Carolina against British General Cornwallis' defeat there and again in Georgia where he again helped defeat the british. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Delaney and Jane had 4 sons and 2 daughters, whose names were Richard, John, Andrew, and David: daughters Bette and Anne. After the children grew up Delaney and Jane moved to near Yancyville, North Carolina and he was later elected a North Carolina Senator. Andrew and Rachael lived in Virginia just west of the City of Danville, where he had a 1500 acre plantation. He and his sons Gabreil, Asher, Richard and William along with several slaves and free blacks raised tobaaco and beef cattle along with other crops. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Richard, son of Andrew, had one son by his first wife; his name was James. It is believed that Mary either died as a result of the birth of James or shortly after, as her death is listed as the same year as his birth. Richard later married Abagail and they had five sons and two daughters. After he and Abagail were married, the came to the Mine Lick Creek area of Tennessee in 1809 from North Carolina where he received a land grant for 640 acres of land. BK 14 Pg. 189 |
