Dorothy divorced Jim in 1948 on the grounds of abandonment. He had disappeared and by 1942 returned to Aunt Bell's to see if she would also take care of the second family he had with him. His second "wife" was pregnant at the time and had her son in Windber, PA.
The third child, Larry, supposed to be adopted out according to the aunts. What Larry, a.k.a. Joey Adams, told me was some fantastic story about being raised in Louisanna and born with a twin brother. A few years later, Jim, cad that he was, stole away into the night and left his second family for someone else to raise. The mother (have to find out her name) hadn't any recollection of this or changed her mind, because she left Johnny with Aunt Bell for the summer and took her daughter with her while she looked all over for her son, Larry.
Johnny was three years younger than I, but he could swear like a trooper, so I am told. He had the Hamill swagger and was built like a little tank. I do not remember him being there, probably because I was six at the time.
