Objective

  • In this course students will learn about the basic knowledge of the computer concepts, a practical knowledge of Windows 95, an introduction to Microsoft Office 97, and how to use MS Word 97, MS Excel 97 and MS PowerPoint 97.

    This part consists of a brief introduction to computers, which explains the term of computer, the major components of a computer, what a computer does, and the categories of computers. Besides that, this part also gives students an understanding of why computers are so important and powerful.

    Computer Hardware
    This section covers the components of a computer. Through this part students will learn about system unit, input devices, output devices, storage devices, and communication devices.

    Software Concepts
    This part will describe about the system software and application software.

    Communications and Networks
    In this section students will learn about the applications of communications technology, transmission media, types of signals, transmission modes, communications equipment, communications networks, network configurations, communications protocols, Internet and World Wide Web.

    Fundamentals of Using Windows 95
    In this part students are introduced to user interfaces and Windows 95. This part covers using the Windows 95 desktop as a work area, using the mouse and the keyboard, minimizing, maximizing, starting an application program, closing a program, using Windows 95 Help, and shutting down Windows 95.

    Using Windows Explorer
    This part covers displaying the contents of a folder, creating, renaming and deleting a folder, changing the view, selecting and copying files, renaming and deleting a file.

    Introduction to Microsoft Office 97
    This section introduces students to each Office 97 application.

    Microsoft Word 97
    In this part students will learn how to create and edit a Word document, how to use Word's Wizards and Templates to create a letter and resume, and how to create a paper with a table.

    Microsoft Excel 97
    Through this section students will learn how to create a worksheet, how to use formulas and formatting, how to create a chart, and how to link Excel worksheet to a Word document.

    Microsoft PowerPoint 97
    This section shows how to use a design template to create a presentation, how to insert clip art and add animation effects into a presentation, and how to import clip art from a source on the World Wide Web into a presentation.
