Next, I carefully examined the stator for physical damage. What I discovered were blunt edges that water had to go around. I solved this problem by using my dremel tool to file down all the leading edges of the vanes in the stator pump. Notice in the above picture, that the vane on the far left has not been touched yet. Yuck, look at all that resistance. You can touch up nicks in yours with a file. Remember to spray some rust resistant paint on the filed areas after you are through.
