Now that you have that shiny new body, its time to get down and dirty. There is a lot of work to do, but if done correctly, you can have a concours winner. (Don't expect my painting to be of that caliber though.)
For the purposes of this walk-through, we are painting a narrow sedan Opel Calibra body by Parma. Parma bodies are thicker than most, which is a negative. The thickness of the polycarbonate does not allow detail lines to form completely through the plastic. Thick lexan bodies are also more prone to cracks. However, at $15 for a complete body, you should have nothing to complain about!
Start off by washing your body (interior) with warm water and soap. Dry the body off with a lint free towel and break out the masking tape. I used masking tape made especially for this type of work. The tape is not as wide as normal tape, and adheres to the lexan better than anything else. Completely cover the windows, as shown in this picture.
Using an xacto knife, score the masking tape along the window lines. This will produce the nicest edge. When you are done removing the excess tape, take time to burmish all the edges of the tape with a hard object. (I find the fingernail of my thumb to be adequate.)
