Adding a wing

Bolt up that Wing

Some people have a hard time bolting a wing up to their car, and as a consequence, don't run one. A wing is very important to your car's stability. An R/C car can run in excess of 300mph scale speed. Try driving you car at 300mph without a wing!

Start by placing a small strip of double sided tape in the area where the screw will pass through. (Sorry, I don't talk about wire wings here...) Now grab some spare screws, and determine which one will fit best. We are more concerned about width than length. Find a drill bit that is slightly larger than the threads, but not the head, and drill out those dimples in your wing.

You did drill the right spots, didn't you? If not, this part is really going to suck, and you will have to buy an after market wing. Position the wing in the exact position you want it, and press down hard! Make sure that the holes you have drilled are fairly centered over the posts, and that the front of the wing is parallel to the front of the car. By pressing down, you have secured the wing to the wing posts via the double sided tape. This leaves you free to find a much smaller drill bit, and drill the wing mounting posts through the wing! This will allow you to exactly position those screws. Screw them in, and you'll never have to worry about losing that wing!
