Frisco is a pacific parrotlet (forpus coelestis). He hatched on July 10, 1998 at the Parrotlet Ranch in Santa Cruz, California.
Here
are some other pictures
of parrotlets like Frisco.
Pacific parrotlets can
easily be identified as male or female by their coloration. Frisco is green
with a bright blue streak near his eyes which makes him a male.
Frisco
is a very tame bird who loves to play on his swing. He loves to have his
head feathers preened and is getting used to playing on a play gym located
outside of his cage. His favorite food is millet which is not unusual for
a parrotlet. He also likes to eat his vegetables and fruits from a kabob
type feeder/toy. At night, we cover his cage. He prefers to sleep on a
perch next to a plush "birdie buddy" vertical bed.
