Hannah Kelley
My great grandmother Hannah Kelley married in 1856 my great grandfather Emanuel B. Westfall (1828-1863) in West Virginia. She was the mother of my grandfather Jasper Mifflin Westfall born 2-25-1857 near Roanoke, Lewis County, West Virginia. He died 12-9-1934 near Fieldon, Otter Creek Township, Jersey County, IL. Emanuel and Hannah (Kelley) Westfall had 2 children-Jasper Mifflin Westfall (my grandfather), and Emanuel Westfall Jr. (1862-1923).
My great grandfather died in 1863. Sometime after my great grandfather Emanuel Westfall's death his widow, my great grandmother Hannah (Kelley) Westfall moved with her 2 children, my grandfather Jasper Mifflin Westfall and Emanuel Westfall Jr. to McLean County, Illinois. Also I have received new information that she remarried to John Williams after my great grandfather Emanuel Westfall's death. I did not know she had remarried until I received this new information.
I also received new information that my great grandmother Hannah Kelley was the daughter of William W. Kelley and Sarah (Bice) Kelley, and that Hannah was born in 1837 in Harrison County, West Virginia. She died in 1918 while living with her son Emanuel Westfall Jr near Gibson City, Ford County, IL. Her parents William W. Kelley and Sarah (Bice) Kelley were married 2-12-1827 in Harrison County, West Virginia. Hannah Kelley's mother Sarah (Bice) Kelley born in 1805. Hannah's mother Sarah Bice was born in Fayette, PA and was the daughter of William and Sophia (Shreve) Bice. Sarah's cousin was Thomas Bice the son of Morrel Bice who was a brother to Sarah's father William Bice. They all lived in Fayette Pa when Sarah was born in 1805. They relocated to Harrison Co WV in 1810. William Bice was listed in 1810 census in Harrison Co. Hannah's father William W. Kelley was born in 1803 and probably died sometime in the 1850's, since there was no trace of him after 1850.
My great grandmother Hannah Kelley's father William W. Kelley was the son of Nathan Kelley born 1750 in Salem, NJ and Elizabeth (Jarman) Kelley. Nathan Kelley was the son of John and Elizabeth (Cushlow) Kelley. Nathan's father John Kelley was born in 1743 in Ireland and came to America in the 1760's from Ireland on the ship Delaware, and he married Elizabeth Cushlow born 1750. John Kelley died in 1798. John Kelley who originally came from Ireland was my great grandmother Hannah (Kelley) Westfall's great grandfather.
Hannah had the following Brothers and Sisters-Marshall Kelley, James W. Kelley, Massina Kelley, Nathan Kelley, Elizabeth Kelley, and John Kelley.

Hannah Kelley's brother James W. Kelley was born in 1830. He and his brother Nathan were both Civil War veterans. He married Arilla Allman in 1850 in Harrison County, West Virginia. She was the daughter of Abram Allman, who was the son of William and Jane (Weatherholt) Allman. Abram Allman's sister Elizabeth Allman married John Westfall, the son of my gr. gr. gr. grandfather Cornelius Westfall Jr. John Westfall was the brother of my great great grandfather Jacob C. Westfall who was the father of my great grandfather Emanuel Westfall who married Hannah Kelley, James Kelley's sister.

Hannah Kelley's sister Massina Kelley was born in 1831. Massina Kelley married Michael Allman in 1853 at the home of her parents William W and Sarah (Bice) Kelley in Taylor Co WV. Michael Allman was the son of Abraham and Winfried (Crites) Allman. He was born in 1834. Michael was a brother to Aurilla Allman the wife of James W Kelley.

Hannah Kelley's sister Elizabeth Kelley born in 1847 married 9-21-1865 David Helmick born in 1826 from Lewis County, West Virginia, the son of John and Mary Ann (Hacker) Helmick. David S. Helmick died Feb. 28, 1903 in Lewis County, WV, and is buried in Jacksonville Cemetery near Walkersville, WV. Elizabeth Kelly Helmick died March 17, 1904 and was buried next to David on Mar. 26, 1904.
Elizabeth's obituary from the March 22, 1904 Weston Independent Newspaper: "Mrs. Helmick. Aged widow, died at the home of her son, Press Helmick of Oil Creek, Thursday. Interment Saturday at Jacksonville."
When Elizabeth Kelly Helmick died, her son Press (Presley Alfred Helmick) must have provided her death information (she was living with him at the time of her death). The cemetery record shows her maiden name spelled "Kelly".
David and Elizabeth (Kelly) Helmick had these children-Sarah F. Helmick, b. abt. 1867, Mary A. born abt. 1868, Fernando Helmick born Apr. 21, 1874, Cora Elizabeth Helmick born Sept. 30 or Oct. 1, 1876. Presley Alfred Helmick born Feb. 25, 1879 (altho his death record shows 1876... which is year Cora was born), Minier Helmick born abt. 1878, Martha Helmick born abt. 1880, Armintie E. Helmick born Mar. 1881 and Bertie Helmick (not sure this name is correct) born July 1884.
David S. and Elizabeth (Kelly) Helmick's daughter Cora Elizabeth Helmick married Omar Graham Stutler of Doddridge Co, WV on 8-15-1899. They moved to Washington, DC where he worked in the US Marshall's office. A daughter Helen G. Stutler was born in Apr, 1901. Another daughter, Thelma Graham Stutler was born Aug, 1903 but died shortly after birth. Cora died in Dec., 1903. Omar and Cora (Helmick) Stutler's daughter Helen was raised by her Stutler grandmother and never learned anything about her Helmick relatives. My great grandmother Hannah (Kelley) Westfall lived with my Westfall grandparents for a time on their farm near Fieldon, IL when my father was a little boy in the early 1900's. She was unmarried at that time. I don't have any information about what happened to her second husband John Williams. Later she went to live with her other son Emanuel Westfall Jr., who lived on a farm with his family in the northern part of the state of Illinois, near Gibson City. She never returned to live with my father's folks, and died there with my father's uncle Emanuel in Gibson City, IL in 1918.

I also recently received an email from Mildred Zickefoose who has Kelley relatives-mildredz@roadrunner.com She said she had found that the name Kelly or Kelley are all the same people. Her mother spelled hers as Kelley, and in the census they spelled it as Kelly. In the marriage record for John Williams and Hannah (Kelley) Westfall It gives her parents as William W. and Sarah Kelley. I think alot of it depended on the census taker. Mildred Zickefoose said Hannah was the daughter of William W. Kelley and Sarah Kelley. Hannah was born in 1837.
Hannah had the following Brothers and Sisters-Marshall Kelly born in 1829, James Kelley born in 1830, West Virginia, Massina Kelley born in 1831, (herself-Hannah Kelley born in 1837), Nathan Kelley born in 1842, Elizabeth Kelley born in 1847, and John Kelley born in 1849. They were living in Taylor Co WV in 1850. In 1860 Sarah and Nathan and Elizabeth were living with James W. Kelley in Lewis County, West Virginia. By then Hannah was married to Emanuel Westfall and had one son Jasper M. Westfall.
In the marriage records from Upshur Co. WV, Hannah (Kelley) Westfall married John Williams Feb. 27 1868. John was the son of Robert and Lydia Williams, and She was the daughter of William W. and Sarah Kelley. James W. Kelley had divorced his first wife in Upshur County, West Virginia, and remarried in 1880 in Gilmer County, West Virginia. He also had a daughter by his second wife and they are all buried in the same cementery in Gilmer County, West Virginia. William W. Kelley was born in 1803 and Sarah was born in 1805. No trace of William W. Kelley after 1850 He probably died sometime in the 1850's. Elizabeth Kelley married David Helmick from Lewis Conty, West Virginia.

Hannah's great grandfather John Kelley came from Ireland. John Kelley was born in Ireland abt 1743 and came to America in the 1760's. His first wife Elizabeth Cushlow was born in 1750 and married John Kelley 24 Dec 1768 in Salem, New Jersey. (Nathan Kelley was my great grandmother Hannah (Kelley) Westfall's grandfather) Nathan married Elzabeth Jarman abt 1793 a daughter of John and Mary Jarman. Nathan Kelley and his family were in the 1820 census in Harrison Co WV. He came from New Jersey and settled in Salem, WV and established the Seventh Day Babtist Church there. Hi Walter: I haven't written to you for sometime. I have done alot of research on the Kelley's since I wrote last. I now have the father of William W Kelley. William W Kelley was born in New Jersey in 1803 and was in Harrison Co WV in 1827 when He got married. I found Nathan Kelley b. in Salem, New Jersey. He and his family were in the 1820 census in Harrison Co WV. I also found an article when he came from New Jersey and settled in Salem WV and established the Seventh Day Babtist Church there. The following is the name of his children that was listed: (1) Phobe Kelley b. 1794 (2) Clayton Kelley b. 1796 (3) John M Kelley b. 1797 (4) Elizabeth Kelley b.1801 (5) William W Kelley b. 1803 (6) and James Kelley b. 1806. He had Elizabeth and James and John in his family, plus Nathan after his father. I have run into this so many times. It is very confusing to people that are doing genealogy.
Then I traced on back to Salem New Jersey and found John Kelley who was born in Ireland abt 1743 and came to America in the 1760's. Henry Brockmeyer
Henry Brockmeyer was born in Germany, June 8, 1825, a son of John F. and Elizabeth (Groppel) Brockmeyer, natives of Germany, where the latter died in 1838 and the former in 1853. Henry immigrated to America the same year in which is father died, landing in New Orleans. He went from there to St. Louis, where he remained one year. In the fall of 1854, he came to Jersey county, and settled in Richwoods township, purchasing 40 acres of land, on which he resided 10 years. He then sold out and bought 40 acres in English township, where he has ever since resided. His farm is located on section 32, and is in good cultivation. It now contains 290 acres. Mr. Brockmeyer was married in Oct. 1854 to Ann M. Lechtermann, and by this union has six children: Mary, now the wife of Otha Kirchner, of English township; John, married to Caroline Hausholter, and living in Otterville; Henry, Ann, Louisa and Otilda. Mr. Brockmeyer and his family are members of the German Lutheran church.

Here is Caroline (Haushalter) Brockmeyer's obituary--BROCKMEYER, died 02-16-1927. Mrs. John Brockmeyer, died Feb. 16. The Union Forrest community was shocken and grieved over the suddness of her death. She had been about her daily tasks and no one had notice any change until she came in from caring for her poultry and sat down in a chair where she suddenly expired.

Rev Arthur Ledebuhr, pastor of Hope Lutheran church, Jerseyville officiated and burial was in Fieldon Cemetery. Miss Brockmeyer was born in Jersey county, a daughter of the late John & Caroline (Haushalter) Brockmeyer. She would have marked her 64th birthday Jan. 7. Surviving are 1 sister, Mrs. Herbert Frazer of Jerseyville and 1 brother, Martin Brockmeyer of Kansas City, KS. Her parents and 2 brothers, Henry and Frank Brockmeyer preceded her in death.

She was born in Otter Creek township, Jersey County, a daughter of the late John & Caroline (Householder) Brockmeyer. On September 10, 1932, in Bowling Green, MO, she married Herbert Leslie Frazer. He died April 4, 1985.
Surviving are 2 sons, Marvin Frazer of Jerseyville and Fred Frazer of New Bloomfield, MO; 9 grandchildren; and 11 g-grandchildren. Visitation was from Jacoby Brothers Funeral Home in Jerseyville. Services were conducted there by Rev. Wayne Pendleton. Burial was in Oak Grove cemetery. Memorials may be given to Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children, St. Louis; or Lupus Foundation, Washington, DC.

Ada (Brockmeyer) Frazer's husband - Herbert Lislie Frazer, 83, of Jerseyville died April 4 in the emergency room of Jersey Community hospital. Services were conducted from Jacoby Brothers Funeral Home in Jerseyville by Rev. David Wilshek with burial in Oak Grove cemetery. He was born in Jersey County October 23, 1901 to the late Frederick & Maggie (Dabbs) Frazer and was a farmer. Surviving are his wife, Ada (Brockmeyer) Frazer whom he married September 10, 1932 in bowling Green, MO; 2 sons, Marvin and Fred, Jerseyville; 9 grandchildren and 10 g-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers, 1 sister and 1 granddaughter. Memorials may be given to heart fund.

Herbert and Ada (Brockmeyer) Frazer's son Marvin Frazer's wife - Betty Jean (McAdams) Frazer, 64, died at 4:17 a.m. Friday, March 21, 2003, at Alton Memorial Hospital. The daughter of Ruth Christina (Renken) Dean of Jerseyville and the late Clay Roosevelt McAdams, she was born Jan. 5, 1939, in a log cabin near Grafton in Jersey County. Raised near Otterville, she married Marvin Herbert Frazer on Dec. 26, 1954, at the Hope Lutheran Church in Jerseyville. She and her husband chose to remain in Otter Creek Township, where they have raised their family. She was an election judge for the township for the past 20 years.
In addition to her mother and her husband, she is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Beverly and Randy Manning of Columbia, Ill., Hope and Greg Bradley of Jefferson City, Mo., and Tina and Eric Trisler of Jerseyville; two sons and daughters-in-law, Herbert and Kim Frazer of Jerseyville and Marvin L. and Trisha Frazer of Jefferson City, Mo.; 12 grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Christina and John Lyming of Jerseyville; and two brothers and a sister-in-law, Henry McAdams of Otterville and Donald and Roberta McAdams of Delhi. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Jeanie Frazer.
Visitation was from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Crawford Funeral Home (Jacoby Chapel) in Jerseyville. Services were at 10 a.m. Monday at the Hope Lutheran Church in Jerseyville, with the Rev. Dr. Leslie Mitkos officiating. Burial was at Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville. Memorials may be given to the Jersey County Relay for Life.

(4a) John and Caroline (Haushalter) Brockmeyer's son Martin J., born 1887, Jersyville, Jersey County, Illinois, died 07-1965, buried Oak Grove Cemetery. Martin J. Brockmeyer, 78, died last week at St. Mary hospital in Kansas City, MO. Services were held at Gent Chapel in Alton, Rev. Charles Stevens, pastor of Alton Evangelical church, officiating. Committal rites were held at Oak Grove cemetery in Jerseyville.
Mr Brockmeyer was the husband of Dora (Maguire) of Jerseyville. She died in Apr. of 1963. He was born in Jerseyville, a son of the late Mr. & Mrs. John H. Brockmeyer, but for many years had made his home in Alton while employed by International Shoe company, since last Oct. he had been with a son, John in Prairie Village, KS, and was a patient at the hospital 53 days before his death. Surviving are his son; 1 granddaughter; and 1 sister, Mrs. Ada Frazer of Jerseyville.

(5a) John and Caroline (Haushalter) Brockmeyer's son Henry J. Brockmeyer, born 03-1885, Jerseyville, Jersey County, Illinois, died 01-18-1947, buried Fieldon cemetery. Henry J. Brockmeyer, 61 yrs, 10 mo, 16 days, a farmer of Otter Creek Township, died at his home Jan. 18. Mr Brockmeyer was the son of the late John & Caroline (Haushalter) Brockmeyer, and he was born at Jerseyville, March ?, 1885.
He had been engaged in farming in Jersey County for 46 years. Surviving are 2 sister, Miss Ida Brockmeyer and Mrs Ada Frazer of Fieldon, and 1 brother, Martin J. Brockmeyer of Alton. Funeral services were held Jan. 20 at Christ Evangelical & Reformed Church in Fieldon. Rev Louis V Huber officiated and interment was in Fieldon cemetery.
(2) Henry and Anna Marie (Lechtermann) Brockmeyer's daughter Marie Anna "Mary" Brockmeyer was born 8-19-1855 in Jersey County, IL. She died 3-21-1936. She is buried at Grimes-Neely Cemetery, English Township, Jersey County, IL. She married Otha Kirchner a son of George Christopher and Elizabeth (Thurston) Kirchner. He was born 12-15-1859 in Jersey County, IL. He died 9-27-1936. He is buried at Grimes-Neely Cemetery, English Township, Jersey County, IL. Otha and Mary (Brockmeyer) Kirchner had 2 children-Herman Christopher Kirchner and Bertha Mary Kirchner.

(1a) Otha and Mary (Brockmeyer) Kirchner's son Herman Christopher Kirchner - Died 02-21-1964. Unknown newspaper, 27 February 1964: "H. Kirchner, ex-sheriff, died Friday" - Herman Christopher Kirchner of this city, former city and county official, died Friday afternoon, 21 February at 1:35 o'clock at Garnet's Nursing Home where he had resided six days. His death followed an extended period of ill health. The family home was at 407 West Spruce Street. Mr. Kirchner was elected Sheriff of Jersey County in 1954 and served a four year term. He also served eight years as Deputy Sheriff during the regimes of Sheriff Herman H. Blackorby, Jr., and the late Sheriff C. E. Wedding. Mr. Kirchner was employed as radio operator for one year during the term of office of Sheriff Howard Perdun. In 1951, Mr. Kirchner was elected a member of the Jerseyville City Council and served as Commissioner of Public Property. He resigned the post in December, 1954, to assume his duties as sheriff. A resident of Jerseyville for twenty-seven years, Mr. Kirchner and his wife engaged in the grocery business for five years, and he also operated a filling station for a time. The decedent operated a milk route in the county for ten years.
Mr. Kirchner was a son of the Late Otha and Mary Brockmeyer Kirchner and was born in Jersey County on 11 September 1890. His age at the time of death was seventy-three years, five months and ten days. he was a member of the Otterville Baptist church and of Jerseyville Lodge No. 394, AF & AM surviving Mr. Kirchner are his wife, Mrs. Nina L. Kirchner, one daughter, Mrs. Preston (Eunice) Mowen of Jerseyville, one son, Hurbert Kirchner of Alton, two grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Bertha Myers of Jerseyville. One daughter Mrs. Melva Oliphint, preceded him in death. Friends called at Jacoby Brothers Funeral Home where final rites were held Sunday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock. Rev. Mode Powell, pastor of the First Methodist church, officiated and interment was in Oak Grove cemetery. Masonic services were held Saturday evening at the funeral home.

Herman Christopher Kirchner's son Hubert E. Kirchner - Died 03-30-1976. Unknown newspaper, 15 April 1976: Final rites for Hubert E. Kirchner, 56, of Alton, formerly of Jerseyville, were conducted from Gent 's Funeral Chapel, Alton, on 2 April, with the Rev. Everett B. Chambers, pastor of the First Baptist church of Jerseyville officiating. Burial was in Oak Grove cemetery. He died at St. Joseph's hospital in Alton on 30 March as a result of injuries sustained in a head on collision on 21 March, south of Medora. Kirchner was of the ballistics department of Olin Industries at the time of his death.
He is survived by his widow, Virginia Farrelly Kirchner; one son, Darrell G. of Morgtown, West Virginia; two stepdaughters, Mrs. George (Sharon) Sneed of St. Louis and Mrs. Sheila Hager of Springfield; two grandsons; and one Sister, Mrs. Preston (Eunice) Mowen of Jerseyville.

Funeral services were held at two o'clock Saturday afternoon at the First Baptist church for Mrs. Bertha Mary Myers of 201 East Arch Street, Jerseyville. Rev. Carlton Christenson officiated and burial was in Oak Grove cemetery. Visitation hours were held at the Jacoby Brothers Funeral Home. The death of Mrs. Myers occurred at seven-fifteen o'clock Wednesday night, March 19 at Waters Nursing Home where she had been a patient for the past four and one-half months.
Mrs. Myers, a daughter of the late Otha and Mary Brockmeyer Kirchner, was born in Jersey County. Her age at the time of death was eighty-three years, nine months, and thirteen days. Her survivors are one son, Arthur C. Myers of Jerseyville; one daughter, Mrs. Leah Neidringhaus of Jennings, Missouri; seven grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy C. Myers; two daughters, Mrs. Marie Wittman and Mrs. Norma Herr, and one granddaughter.

Bertha M. (Busch) Maguire's husband William Lloyd Maguire - Died 06-26-1969. William Lloyd Maguire, 81 year old retired Jersey County farmer, was killed early Thursday morning when the 1958 Ford car he was driving was struck by a GM&O freight train at the crossing on East Exchange Street near the farm supply company in Jerseyville. Mr. Maguire was pronounced dead on arrival at 7:35 a.m. at the Jersey Community hospital where he was moved in the Gubser ambulance. Mr. Maguire, whose home was 420 Short Street, was driving east on East Exchange Street and the train was traveling north. According to a report by patrolman Ralph R. Pickett of the Jerseyville Police Department who investigated the accident, the Maguire car was hit in the right center side and shoved off the track into the ditch at the east side of the track. T. N. Tennil, train engineer, told the officer he blew the whistle but the car never moved.
Final rites for Mr. Maguire were held Sunday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at Jacoby Brothers Funeral Home with Rev. Leonard Todd of Midway officiating. Burial was in Oak Grove cemetery. Visitation hours were held at the Funeral Home. Mr. Maguire was a son of the late William and Lucy Clark Maguire and was born in Jersey County September 12, 1887. His age at death was 81 years, 9 months, and 7 days.
He was married to Miss Bertha Busch on August 16, 1917, and the couple engaged in farming in Otter Creek until 1958 when they retired and moved to Jerseyville to make their home. Surviving him in addition to his wife, are one son, Ralph L. Maguire of Route One, Alton, three daughters, Mrs. Elmer (Maurita) Harbour of Rosewood Heights, Mrs. Everett (Verna) Van Tassel of Godfrey, and Mrs. Harry (Rowena) McIntire of New Orleans, Louisiana, seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren, two brothers, Asa Maguire of Alton and Claude Maguire, a member of the Jerseyville police force, and one sister, Mrs. John Collins of Jerseyville.

He came to Jersey county at the age of 5 and spent all his life on the same farm. In addition to his farming interests, Mr. Busch served a 4 year term as supervisor from Otter CreeK Township, and at the time of his death was Justice of the Peace there. He was a member of the Methodist church.
Mr Busch married Mabel (Fredenburg) Jan. 7, 1909, and the couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary Jan. 11 at the Methodist Church, Jerseyville. Surviving are his wife, 2 daughters, Mrs Kearney (Alice) Dabbs and Mrs. Raymond (Irene) Gerson of Fieldon; 2 sons Howard F Busch of Dow and Virgil Busch of Jerseyville; 11 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren, 1 sister, Mrs. Lloyd Maguire of Jerseyville and 2 brothers, Carl Busch of Jerseyville and Roy Busch of Warrenton, MO. 1 daughter, Ruth Rowena, died in infancy.

Busch owned and operated the Busch's Farm Restaurant and Bowl Inn and the former V Busch Dairy, both in Jerseyville. He had entered the state police force as a highway patrolman in East St. Louis and was the official driver for the late Lt Gov Hugh Cross. He had made contributions to Jerseyville community, including the first lighted ball diamond.
He was born in Jersey County the son of Mabel Busch of Jerseyville and the late George F Busch. On Oct. 13, 1936, he married Mary (Shortal) Busch. She survives. Also surviving are his mother; 2 daughters, Karen Beertman of Jerseyville and Charlene Schmitz of Lincoln, NE; 1 son, William Busch of Columbia, MO; 2 granddaughters; 3 great grandchildren and 2 sisters, Irene Gerson of Fieldon and Alice Dabbs of Jerseyville. Funeral mass was held at St. Francis church with Revs Henry Schmidt and William Hembrow as concelebrants. Visitation and rosary were held at the church with a prayer service following. Burial was private at St. Francis cemetery. Memorials may be given to St. Francis School. Jacoby-Schroeder funeral home was in charge of arrangements.

He married Louise (Krause) on Aug. 7, 1929, in Jerseyville. She survives.

Schaaf, 69, died at 3:26 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 15, 2009, at St. John's Mercy Hospital in St. Louis County, Mo. She was born Oct. 10, 1939, in Jersey County to Howard F. and Louise A. (Krause) Busch. She married William E. Schaaf on July 26, 1958, in Alton. He survives. She was a bookkeeper for local retailers and a member of the Jerseyville Moose and Rebekahs.
In addition to her husband, surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, LaVone Zibrida and Wilann and Bill Eyers, all of Brighton; three grandchildren, Dustin Zibrida and James and Benjamin Eyers; two sisters and their husbands, June and John Niehaus of Rosewood Heights and Doreen and John Sullivant of Cottage Hills; and several nieces and nephews. The daughter of the late George F. and Mabel C. (Fredenburg) Busch was born on May 20, 1912, in Otterville. On Oct. 27, 1928, she married Kearney O. Dabbs at the First Presbyterian Church in Jerseyville. He preceded her in death on Feb. 18, 2001. A homemaker, she owned and operated the Otterville Store from 1962 until 1973. She also was a 62-year member of the Otterville Baptist Church and a member of the Jersey County Republican Women Club.
Surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and Clifton Cunningham of Fieldon, Mary Lou and Bob Eisler of Jerseyville and Brenda and Roger Allen of White Hall; nine grandchildren and spouses, Terri and Gerald Scott, Trudy and Bob Pritchard, Tina and Gary Vahle, Todd and Penny Cunningham, Bob K. and Mary Eisler, Kathy and Joe Fessler, Angie and Dale Coffman, Sue and Terry Tucker and Ben Allen; 15 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; one sister, Irene Gerson of Fieldon; and three sisters-in-law, Mary Busch and Juanita Dabbs, both of Jerseyville, and Freda Dabbs of White Hall. Besides her husband and parents, a sister, Ruth Busch; and two brothers, Virgil and Howard Busch, preceded her in death.

Alice (Busch) Dabbs's husband - Kearney O. Dabbs, 92, died at 7:43 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 18, 2001, at Jersey Community Hospital. Born July 8, 1908, in Otter Creek Township in Jersey County, he was a son of the late William Oscar and Alice (Hutchinson) Dabbs. He was a farmer and later from 1962 until 1973, owned and operated Otterville Grocery Store and was a 60-year member of Otterville Baptist Church, member of Fieldon Masonic Lodge No. 592 and Grafton Full Moon Lodge No. 341 for more than 50 years. He married the former Alice Busch Oct. 27, 1928, at the First Presbyterian Church in Jerseyville. She survives.
Also surviving are three daughters and three sons-in-law, Betty and Clifton Cunningham of Fieldon, Mary Lou and Bob Eisler of Jerseyville and Brenda and Roger Allen of White Hall; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a brother and sister-in-law, Morris and Juanita Dabbs of Jerseyville and Freda Dabbs of White Hall. He was preceded in death by a brother, Herschell Dabbs, and a sister, Mary Alice Flowers.
