Theodore Calvin Fraley Theodore Calvin Fraley was born 5-10-1870, and he died 11-9-1922 in Jersey County, IL. He is buried at Noble Cemetery, Otter Creek Township, Jersey County, IL. He married Rachel A. McDanel 2-7-1894 in Jersey County, IL. Rachel A. McDanel was the daughter of Charles and Amanda (Dabbs) McDanel. Her father Charles McDanel was the son of Gregg McDanel and his wife Rachel (Cooper) McDanel who settled in Otter Creek township in the fall of 1828, on Sec. 7, where he lived for many years. Gregg McDanel constructed a dam and mill for sawing lumber on Otter Creek in 1828, and two years later a mill for grinding corn. Gregg McDanel came here from Madison county. He was born 4-9-1788 and died Sept. 17, 1859, leaving a large landed estate. His wife, Rachel (Cooper) McDanel, died May 16, 1861. Both are buried in the Noble cemetery, Otter Creek Township, Jersey County, IL. Charles McDanel was born in Madison county, IL, 10-4-1827, and was one year old when his parents settled in this county. He was a farmer and owned more than 1400 acres, and also worked in a saw and grist mill. He received a good education, attending the district school and afterwards Shurtleff College, at Upper Alton. In November, 1865, he was married to Amanda Dabbs, who was born in Otter Creek township 2-27-1843. Charles and Amanda (Dabbs) McDanel were the parents of eight children - Sarah Leonora McDanel, Rachel A. McDanel, Charles G. McDanel, Georgiana McDanel, Ada Maria McDanel, Mark L. McDanel, William R. His wife Amanda M. (Dabbs) McDanel was the daughter of Jesse Dabbs and Matilda (Marsh) Dabbs. She was born Feb 27, 1843 in Otter Creek Township, Jersey Co. IL. She died Jan 1, 1905. They are both buried at Noble Cemetery, Otter Creek Township, Jersey County, IL. Charles and Amanda (Dabbs) McDanel's daughter Rachel A. McDanel was born in 1868 in Otter Creek Township, Jersey County, IL, and died 10-2-1916 in Jersey County, IL. She is buried at Noble Cemetery, Otter Creek Township, Jersey County, IL. Theodore and Rachel (McDanel) Fraley had 6 children-Earl Raymond Fraley, Warren Fraley, Estel Fraley, Frank Fraley, Lewis Fraley, and Mark H. Fraley. (1) Theodore and Rachel (McDanel) Fraley's son - Earl Raymond Fraley, 74, a rural Jerseyville resident and former member of the Jersey County Board of Supervisors for 12 years, died suddenly at his home on January 8, 1969. Visitation was held at Jacoby Brothers Funeral Home in Jerseyville. Services were held at Fieldon United Church of Christ. Rev. Leonard Todd of Moro officiated and burial was in Fieldon cemetery. Though Mr. Fraley and been ill for several years, his death was unexpected. Mr. & Mrs. Fraley had been in Jerseyville Wednesday afternoon and upon returning to their home he said he would rest before the evening meal. His breathing attracted Mrs. Fraley's attention and she summoned help. He was pronounced dead on arrival at Jersey Community hospital. A son of the late Theodore C. & Rachel (McDanel) Fraley, the former official of Otter Creek township, was born in Montgomery County. He was engaged in farming for many years. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Effie (McDow) Fraley; 1 daughter, Mrs. Bertha Hearty of Jerseyville; 4 sons, Stewart Fraley of Fieldon, Stanley and Wilbert Fraley of Jerseyville and Leland Fraley of Carrollton; 19 grandchildren; 7 g-grandchildren; 4 brothers, Warren Fraley of East Alton, Frank Fraley of Litchfield, Lewis Fraley of Chicago, and Estel Fraley of Carrollton. 1 brothers, Mark preceded him in death. Mr. Fraley was a member of Fieldon United Church of Christ; Fieldon Lodge, 592, AF & AM; and the consistory Masonic services were held at the Funeral Home. ------------------ Earl Raymond Fraley was born in Montgomery County, IL. He died 1-8-1969 at Jersey Community Hospital in Jerseyville, IL. He is buried at Fieldon Cemetery, Richwood Township, Jersey County, IL. He farmed in Otter Creek Township, Jersey County, IL. He married Effie A. McDow. She was born in 1895 in Jersey County, IL, and died in 1990 in Jersey County, IL She is buried in Fieldon Cemetery, Richwood Township, Jersey County, IL. Earl and Effie (McDow) Fraley had 6 children-Stewart Fraley, Stanley Fraley, Wilbert Theodore Fraley, Leland Fraley, Bertha Fraley, and Augusta Fraley who died in infancy. ---------------- (1a) Earl and Effie (McDow) Fraley's son - Stewart Fraley, 85, died at 11:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27, 2002, at Jerseyville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born Sept. 12, 1916, in Alton. He was the son of the late Earl and Effie (McDow) Fraley. He married Helen L. White on Dec. 27, 1939, in St. Charles, Mo. She died March 3, 1995. He was a lifelong farmer and also worked with the Illinois Department of Transportation for 11 years. He was a member of Fieldon United Church of Christ and Fieldon Masonic Lodge 592. Surviving are a sister, Bertha Vogler of Jerseyville; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Wilbert and Violet Fraley and Stanley and Maurita Fraley, all of Jerseyville, and Leland and Theresa Fraley of Carrollton; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation were from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Gubser Funeral Home in Jerseyville, with Masonic services by the Fieldon Masonic Lodge at 4 p.m. Visitation continued from 9:30 until the 10 a.m. services on Thursday at Fieldon United Church of Christ, with Dr. Donald J.W. Burkhalter officiating. Burial was at White Cemetery near Otterville. Memorials may be made to the church or to White Cemetery. ------------------ Stewart Fraley was born 9-12-1916 in Alton, IL. He died 1-27-2002 at Jerseyville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Jerseyville, IL. He is buried at White Cemetery, Otter Creek Township, Jersey County, IL. He farmed in the Fieldon, IL area. He married Helen L. White 12-27-1939 in St. Charles, MO. She was born in 1909 in Jersey County, IL, and died 3-3-1995 in Jersey County, IL. She is buried at White Cemetery, Otter Creek Township, Jersey County, IL. ---------------- (2a) Earl and Effie (McDow) Fraley's son Stanley Herbert Fraley married Maurita Goetten 1-29-1947 and they live in the Jerseyville, IL. ----------- (1aa) Stanley and Maurita (Goetten) Fraley's son Daniel Fraley's daughter Amber (Fraley) Hubbell's husband Aaron Andrew Hubbell's obituary - Aaron Andrew Hubbell, 27, joined his heavenly father on Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2007, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital after a courageous battle with leukemia and its complications. A 1998 graduate of Marquette High School, he attended William Jewell University on a soccer scholarship and was honored with many awards, including team captain. He was a dedicated employee at Centric Group in St. Louis for the past four years. He loved life, and his wife and children were his most cherished gifts. Despite his illness, he continued to bring inspiration and joy to his family and friends. He was a hero to all who knew him well. We will miss him deeply, although he will live on in our hearts forever. He was the loving husband of Amber (Fraley) Hubbell; devoted father of Austin and Alex; cherished son of Stephen and Patricia (Biederman) Hubbell; son-in-law of Daniel and Janice Fraley of Fieldon; brother of the late Stephen Hubbell, Michael Hubbell and his fiance, Christina Kersting and Lindsey (Hubbell) and Bradley Merkel of Chicago; brother-in-law of Danny and Amy Phipps and Jeff and Shannon Fraley of Jerseyville; dear grandson of Oliver and Edith Biederman; nephew, cousin, uncle, sincere friend and soccer teammate to many. Friends may sign the family’s online guest book at schrader.com. ---------------- (3a) Earl and Effie (McDow) Fraley's son - Wilbert Theodore Fraley, 86, died at 9:35 a.m. Monday, Dec. 11, 2006, at his home with his family by his side. Born July 10, 1920, in Jersey County, he was the son of Earl R. and Effie A. (McDow) Fraley. On Aug. 9, 1941, he married the former Neva Stone, who died July 27, 1993. He married the former Violet (Boomer) Phipps on July 29, 1995. She survives. The 1938 graduate of Jersey Community High School worked at Shell Oil Refinery for several years then moved to the family farm in English Township near Fieldon, where he lived for nearly 50 years with his family. He served as the English Township road commissioner for several years then began working for the Illinois Secretary of State's Office as the facilities manager. He later retired and moved to Jerseyville. He was a member of Peace United Church of Christ and a 60-year member of the Fieldon Masonic Lodge 592. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren and his daily trip to eat at the Round Table at Fran & Marilyn's. In addition to his wife, surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Anita and Paul Rose and Sue and Don Rongey, all of Jerseyville; a son, Earl Fraley of Franklin, Texas; two stepsons and their wives, Marion and Donna Phipps and Ronnie and Connie Phipps, all of Jerseyville; nine grandchildren and their spouses, Pat Hatem of Racine, Wis., Sandra and Jeff Roberts of Dow, Rod and Julie Brangenberg of Godfrey, Tammi and Mike Miller of Perry Hall, Md., Melissa Fraley of Kennewick, Wash., Brad Fraley and Brian Fraley, both of Jerseyville, Steve and Tracey Downey of Crownsville, Md., and Jackie Lorsbach and her fiance, Andy Baalman, of Hardin; five stepgrandchildren and their spouses, Pam Phipps of Florissant, Jeff and Wendy Phipps, Danny and Amy Phipps, Ashley Bick and Russell and Dena Phipps, all of Jerseyville; 13 great-grandchildren; nine stepgreat-grandchildren; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Stanley and Maurita Fraley of Jerseyville and Leland and Theresa Fraley of Carrollton. Memorials may be given to Grimes Neely Cemetery Fund or Peace United Church of Christ. ------------- (1aaa) Wilbert Fraley's grandaughter Julie Brangenberg's husband Rodney Brangenberg's father Roy Merlin Brangenberg's obituary - Roy Merlin Brangenberg, 71, passed away at 9:10 p.m. Tuesday, July 8, 2008, at the Calhoun Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Hardin, enfolded in the loving embrace of his family. He had bravely battled intestinal cancer for eight years. A dearly loved and admired husband, father and grandfather, he is survived by his wife, Sharon, whom he married Aug. 13, 1988, and his three children and their families: daughter Pat Hatom of Racine, Wisc., and her children, Sam and Maria; daughter Sandra and son-in-law, Jeff Roberts, of Dow and their children, Nellie, William and Edward; and son, Rodney and daughter-in-law, Julie, Brangenberg of Jerseyville and their children, Jack, Joe and Rose. He is also survived by his stepson, Cris Clendenny, and his daughter, Ashleigh, and his stepson, Cary. Roy was born on Feb. 23, 1937, at his home in Kampsville to William "Bud" and Nellie Brangenberg who preceded him in death. He graduated from Hardin High School in 1954 after playing both baseball and basketball for four years. Upon graduation, he attended Southern Illinois University Carbondale, where he earned a bachelor of science degree in agriculture in 1958. Upon graduation from college, Roy was employed in the fertilizer business in East St. Louis and soon thereafter enlisted in the United States Army, where he served first on active duty and later on reserve duty. After his active duty, Roy served as a meat inspector for the city of St. Louis prior to returning home to Kampsville to join his father in working, managing and expanding the family farm. He farmed several hundred acres and raised livestock for the remainder of his career while raising his three children. Roy was a devout Christian and was active in the Summit Grove and Kampsville Presbyterian Church in Kampsville throughout his life. After returning to Kampsville, he played baseball in a men's league and then played softball in various leagues for more than 30 years. Roy enjoyed bowling in leagues at least twice a week and was an avid sports fan - ever loyal to and knowledgeable about the Cardinals and the Fighting Illini. Friends may pay their respects to him and his family at the visitation, which will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 11, at Hanks-Gress Funeral Home in Hardin. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 12, at the First Presbyterian Church in Kampsville, followed by internment at Summit Grove Cemetery in Kampsville. Roy's family wished to express their profound and heartfelt gratitude to the staffs of Saint Anthony's Hospice and the Calhoun Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their affectionate devotion to and compassionate care for Roy during his illness. She is buried at Grimes-Neely Cemetery, English Township, Jersey County, IL. She married William Heraty in 1938. He died in 1969. She later married Bert Vogler 10-20-1970. He died 1-6-1991. She had 4 children-William Heraty (deceased), Ronald Heraty of Chandler, Ariz, Mrs. Carol Yocum of Jerseyville, IL, and Mrs. Linda Rogers of Phoenix, Ariz. ----------------- (6a) Earl and Effie (McDow) Fraley's daughter Augusta Fraley died in infancy in Dec. 1933. (2) Theodore and Rachel (McDanel) Fraley's son - Warren Fraley, 75, of East Alton, died February 8, at Jersey Community hospital. Final rites were held at East Alton Pentecostal church with Rev. E. E. Ladkey officiating. Burial was in Rose Lawn Memory Gardens. Mr. Fraley was employed as a machinist with Standard Oil Co. for 39 years until retiring in 1962. Surviving are his wife, Matilda (Wieneke) Fraley whom he married March 15, 1922 in Jerseyville; 1 daughter, Mrs. Fred (Keota) Falcone, Alton; 1 son, Oliver W. Fraley of Godfrey; 2 brothers, Estel of Carrollton and Lewis of Chicago; 2 grandchildren. Memorials may be given to American Cancer Society. -------------------- Warren Fraley's wife - Matilda Josephine Fraley, 90, of East Alton, died January 16, 1988, at Greenwood Manor in Jerseyville. Born in Jersey County, she was the daughter of the late Fredrick & Johanna (Quitt) Wieneke. She married Warren Fraley in 1921 in Jerseyville. He died February 8, 1975. Surviving are 1 son, Oliver Fraley, Godfrey; 1 daughter, Keota Doerr, Godfrey; 2 grandchildren; 1 g-grandchild; and 1 sister, Emma Fraley, Carrollton. Visitation and services were conducted at Marks Mortuary in Wood River. Rev. Paul Miller officiated. Burial was in Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto. -------------------- Warren Fraley died 2-8-1975 at age 75. He is buried at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens Cemetery in Bethalto, IL. He married Matilda Josephine Wieneke 3-15-1922 in Jerseyville, IL. She died 1-16-1988 at Greenwood Manor Nursing Home in Jerseyville, IL. She is buried at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens Cemetery in Bethalto, IL. She was the daughter of Fredrick and Johanna (Quitt) Wieneke. Warren and Matilda (Wieneke) Fraley had 2 children-Keota Fraley who married Fred Falcone of Alton, IL, and Oliver W. Fraley of Godfrey, IL. (3) Theodore and Rachel (McDanel) Fraley's son - Estel Fraley, 74, a retired farmer of Carrollton, died at his home February 13, after an apparent heart attack. Visitation was held at Hires Funeral Home, Carrollton, and burial was in Carrollton cemetery. He was born in Jersey County, a son of the late Theodore & Rachell (McDaniel) Fraley. He married Mildred (Devening) Fraley in 1923. She died in 1977. On January 5 he married the former Sara Nnn Goodwin who survives. Also surviving are 2 daughters, Lila Vanausdoll and Mamie Shelton, both of Fieldon; 3 sons, Orville of Anabel, MO and Ralph and Raymond both of Carrollton; 22 grandchildren and 17 g-grandchildren. -------------------- Estel Fraley's wife - Mildred M. Fraley, 74, of R1 Carrollton, died April 3, 1977 at Passavant hospital in Jacksonville. Services were conducted by Rev. Kent Tremble at Hires Funeral Home, Carrollton and burial was in Carrollton city cemetery. A native of Alton, she married Estel Fraley in 1923. Surviving are her husband; 2 sisters, Mrs. Willie (Lila) Vanausdoll and Mrs. Don (Mamie) Shelton, both of Fieldon; 3 sons, Orville of Anabel, MO, Ralph and Raymond, both of Carrollton; 22 grandchildren and 13 g-grandchildren. ---------------------- Estel Fraley was born in 1904, and died in 1979. He is buried at the Carrollton City Cemetery, Carrollton Township, Greene County, IL. He married Mildred M. Devening in 1923. She was the daughter of Henry and Pauline (Mullikin) Devening. She was born in 1903. She died in 4-3-1977. She is buried at the Carrollton City Cemetery, Carrollton Township, Greene County, IL. After her death Estel Fraley married Sara Ann Goodwin. Estel and Mildred (Devening) Fraley had 5 children-Orville Fraley, Ralph Fraley, Raymond Fraley, Lila Fraley, and Mamie Fraley. ------------------ (1a) Estel and Mildred (Devening) Fraley's son Orville Fraley lives in Anabel, MO. ------------------ (2a) Estel and Mildred (Devening) Fraley's son - Raymond Roy Fraley, 67, died Friday morning, Dec. 19, 2003, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield. He was born Dec. 15, 1936, at the Fraley homestead in rural Fieldon to Estel and Mildred (Devening) Fraley. He and the former Ruth Ryan were married Sept. 29, 1955, at the Bethel Baptist Church, near Jerseyville. She survives. A farmer his entire life in the Carrollton area, he retired in 2001. He was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church near Jerseyville. In addition to his wife, surviving are two sons, Douglas Fraley of Roodhouse and Mark Fraley and his wife, Patti Shade Fraley, of Carrollton; two daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy and Gary Petry and Kim and Rick Steinacher, all of Carrollton; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Ralph Fraley of Carrollton; two sisters, Lila "Sis" Vanausdoll of Eldred and Mamie Shelton of Fieldon; several nieces and nephews; and an extended family member and friend, Greg Harris, of Wood River. He was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Melissa Petry; and a brother, Orville Fraley. Visitation were from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Carrollton. Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at the Bethel Baptist Church near Jerseyville. Burial was at Carrollton City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent online at www.airsman-hires.com. ------------------- (3a) Estel and Mildred (Devening) Fraley's son - Ralph Loren Fraley, 72, of Carrollton died at his home in rural Carrollton on Thursday March 10, 2005 after a short battle with cancer. He was born in rural Jersey County on Jan. 13, 1933, the son of the late Estel and Mildred Devening Fraley, who preceded him in death. He graduated from Jerseyville High School in 1951. He married the former Billy Lou Hildred on July 17, 1953 just before shipping overseas. She survives. Also surviving are: 3 daughters and sons-in-law: Debby and Fred Wolfe of Mahomet, Sherry Fraley and Darold Range of Greenfield, Luci and Brian Strotheide of Maryville, 6 grandchildren: Jesse Range, Montana Martin, Dakota Williams, Elias Fraley, Benjamin and Madison Strotheide, 2 sisters: Mamie Shelton of Fieldon, Lila "Sis" Vanausdoll of Eldred and 2 sisters-in-law: Ruth Fraley of Carrollton and Mary Fraley of Clarence, Mo. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son: Lance Fraley, 2 brothers: Orville and Raymond Fraley and 2 brothers-in-law: Don Shelton and Willie Vanausdoll. Mr. Fraley served his country in the Korean Conflict as a Sgt. First Class in the U.S. Army. He was self-employed farmer all his life, first in Macoupin Co. near Shipman and moving to Greene Co. in 1964 where he and his wife purchased the farm near Carrollton where she still lives. He farmed for several years in a partnership with his brother and best friend: Raymond, until his retirement in 1996. After retirement he raised poultry and produced a huge garden until a few months before his death. He and his wife were members of the Jersey County Grand Squares square dance club for nearly 20 years. He truly enjoyed enjoying watching television, especially Wheel of Fortune and sporting events. He enjoyed nature to the fullest, including all plants and bird watching. But above all he enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and his many nieces and nephews. He was a member of the Carrollton Methodist Church and Greene Co. Farm Bureau. Visitation was from 4-8 P.M. on Saturday at the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Carrollton where services were held on Sunday at 2 P.M. Burial was in the Carrollton City Cemetery. He was born 2-13-1923 in rural Grafton, Jersey County, and died 10-7-2004 in rural Eldred, Greene County, IL. He is buried in Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville, IL. He was the son of Everett C. and M. Carlene (Quitt) Vanausdoll. He was a farmer in Jersey and Greene Counties in Illinois. They had 2 children-Eugene Vanausdoll of Clermont, GA, and Sandy Vanausdoll who married Dan Wagner of rural Carrollton, IL. ---------------- (5a) Estel and Mildred (Devening) Fraley's daughter Mamie Fraley married Ralph Donald Shelton 10-6-1948 and they live in Fieldon, IL. (4) Theodore and Rachel (McDanel) Fraley's son Frank Fraley's wife was named Edna, and they had 4 children-Mildred (Fraley) Mathew of Atlanta, IL, Rachel (Fraley) Booher of Atlanta, IL, and another daughter who's name I don't know. Frank and Edna Fraley also had a son Ernest F. Fraley born 8-31-1918 in Fieldon, Jersey County, IL. He died 8-15-2002 at St. Anthony's Health Center in Alton, IL. He married Eleanor Woods, and they had a daughter Sharon Fraley who married Rudy Dick of East Alton, IL. --------------------- Frank and Edna Fraley's son - Ernest F. Fraley, 83, died at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 15, 2002, at Saint Anthony's Health Center in Alton. He was born Aug. 31, 1918, to Edna and Frank Fraley in Fieldon. He married Eleanor Woods Fraley, who survives. He was a crane operator for Olin Brass Mill, retiring after 40 years of service. He loved gardening, fishing, a day of driving and sightseeing, and he will always be remembered. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Sharon Dick, and her husband, Rudy, of East Alton; four grandchildren, Diana Herrin of Cottage Hills, Ronald Little of Wood River, Joseph Brown of East Alton and Laura Brown of Wood River; three great-grandchildren, Robert D. Herrin III, Ronald Little Jr. and Regina Little; two sisters, Mildred Matthew and Rachel Booher, both of Atlanta, Ill.; and many other extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers-in-law. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Elias-Smith Funeral Home in Bethalto, where services will take place at 1 p.m. Monday. I don't know the date of her death. Her husband Mark Fraley preceded her in death. Mark Fraley, died 30 Oct 1954, and he is buried at Oak Grove Cemetery. He was a WWI Veteran. Roady, 71, died at home in Fidelity, March 2. The body was taken to Kane Church of Christ for services. He came to Jersey County in 1864 following the end of the Civil War, and has lived in the county since then. She was born July 17, 1915, to Phillip and Minda (Likes) Wandrei. She grew up in Fieldon and attended Pleasant Cove School. She married Pearl Roady on Nov. 25, 1933. He is deceased. She married John C. Springman on Sept. 21, 1957, in Jerseyville. He died Sept. 30, 1970. A loving mother and homemaker, she was also an avid gardner and well-known for her huge vegetable garden, always bordered by beautiful flowers. She was a faithful member of the Church of Christ in Jerseyville. Survivors include a daughter, Hilda, and her husband, Gerald, Hoffstetter of Schenectady, N.Y.; two sons, Phillip Roady and his wife, Deanne, of Taylorville, Ill., and Edwin Roady and his wife, Susan, of Taft, Calif.; a daughter-in-law, Pam Roady of Jerseyville; a son-in-law, Bill Mueller of O'Fallon, Mo.; 16 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Howard "Charlie" Roady; a daughter, Frances Mueller; a daughter-in-law, Ruby Roady; a granddaughter, Dawn Roady; and a great-grandson, Brian Berdan. "Charlie" Roady, 66, died at 3:32 a.m. Monday, Jan. 26, 2004, at his home after a long battle with lung cancer. He was born Dec. 13, 1937, in Fieldon to Effie (Wandrei) Springman of Jerseyville and Pearl Roady. He married the former Pam Wingo on April 18, 1968, in Jerseyville. She survives. A 1956 graduate of Jersey Community High School, he soon entered the U.S. Navy, where he served his country during the Korean War and was stationed on the USS Columbus. A very active and dedicated member of the Jerseyville community, he was a 25-year member of the Moose Lodge 695 andthe Elks Lodge 954, was instrumental in the formation of the Jerseyville D.A.R.E. program and was a longtime member of the Jerseyville Chamber of Commerce, serving as president in 1989. He was a general contractor most of his life, owning and operating Roady Construction for more than 30 years. Later, he also included the First Check Home Improvement Service, as well as a real estate agent through Homes of America Realty. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his mother, who lives in Jerseyville; six sons and daughters-in-law, Mike of Boring, Ore., Waney and Lorrie Roady of Kane, Kyle Roady of Jerseyville, Rodney Roady of Farmington Hills, Mich., Ricky and Jenny of Brightwood, Ore., and Mitchell Roady at home; 10 grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Phil and Deanne Roady of Taylorville, Ill.,and Edwin and Susan Roady of Taft, Calif; and a sister and brother-in-law, Hilda and Gerald Hoffstetter of Schnectady, N.Y. He was preceded in death by his father; a daughter, Dawn Louise Roady, on Feb. 27, 1983; a sister, Rosalie Frances Mueller; maternal grandparents, Phillip and Minda Wandrei; and paternal grandparents, Solomon and Rosetta Roady. She was born June 9, 1966 in San Bernardino, California and was a student at Jersey Community High School where she participated in the glee club and track team. She is survived by her mother, who lives in Jerseyville; her husband, William J. Roady, 73, Rural Route 1 Bethalto, died at 4 pm March 28, at Scott Air Force base hospital. Roady was born September 6, 1906 in Jersey County, the son of the Late Solomon & Rose (Franz) Roady. He married Corothy (Willis) Roady February 22, 1944 in Granite City. He was a retired Master Sergeant in the US Air Force, having served in WWII and Korea. He is survived by his wife, 1 brother Roady of Granite City; and 2 sisters, Florence Watson of Brighton and Rosetta Jacobs, Bunker Hill. Watson was a US Air Force corporal in WW II, and was manager of Alton-Wood River Sportsman's Club for 26 years, retiring in 1985. Born in Jersey County, his parents were the late James & Lottie (Tucker) Watson. He married the former Florence "Tossie" (Roady) Watson, on August 30, 1952, in Jerseyville. Surviving are his wife; 1 stepdau, Rose Kult of Columbia, IL; 1 stepson, Bill Haun of Jerseyville; 10 grandchildren; 15 g-grandchildren; 5 sisters, Verna Marshall and Evelyn Dwyer, both of Jerseyville, Vera Bock, Alton, Alta Faye Tuetken of Tampa, FL, and Christina Maxeiner, Brighton; 2 brothers, Laverne and Raymond Watson both of Brighton. (2) Campbell G. and Angeline A. (Williams) Roady's daughter - Charlotte B. (Roady) Daniels, born 06-09-1893, Jersey County, Illinois, died 05-1967, buried Kane cemetery. Charlotte B. Daniels, 73, of Alton, died at noon Thursday at St. Anthony Hospital. She had been in ill health since November and a patient for 12 days. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at 2 pm at Staten Chapel in Alton. Rev. Merle Stanton of Jamesport, Missouri, officiated and burial was in Kane cemetery. Mrs Daniels was a daughter of the late Mr. & Mrs. (Campbell) Roady and was born in Jersey County on September 6, 1893. She attended Fidelity schools and was married at Fidelity on September 6, 1911, to Charles E. Daniels. Mrs Daniels had been a resident of Alton since 1921. The death of her husband occurred in December 1963. Surviving her are 3 sons, Charles, Jr., James and William, and 3 daughters, Mrs. Lawrence Mead, Mrs. Muriel Harshbarger and Mrs. Frank Greenwell, all of Alton; 1 sister, Mrs. Alice Downs of Jerseyville and 1 brother, J. C. Roady of Sullivan, Indiana, 34 grandchildren and 36 g-grandchildren. (3) Campbell G. and Angeline A. (Williams) Roady's daughter - Mary G. (Roady) Grant, 76, of Alton, former resident of Jersey county, died December 8, at St. Joseph hospital, Alton. Funeral services were held December 13, at Burke funeral home, Alton. Elder Paul Higbey, pastor of Roxana Church of Christ, officiated and burial was in Upper Alton cemetery. Mrs Grant was a daughter of the late Campbell G & Angeline (Williams) Roady. She was born in Jerseyville on December 28, 1877. She had resided in Alton since the early 1900's. She was the wife of George Grant, who with 3 of her own children preceded her in death. She had been the mother of 4 children and foster mother to 2. Surviving are 1 Son, Otis L Roady of Decatur. The foster children are Harold Fugate of Tulsa, OK, 22 whom Mrs Grant had reared since he was 2 and Ernest Lee Wyatt of Alton, 11 who was at the Grant home since he was 2 months. A granddaughter, Mrs Mary Ehlers, Godfrey came to live with her grandmother at the age of 9 months. Also surviving are 1 brother, Elder J C Roady, Evangelist of the Church of Christ at Sullivan, IN; 3 sisters, Mrs George Downs of Jerseyville, Mrs Roy Lawrence of Bethalto and Mrs Charles Daniels Sr. of Alton, 34 grandchildren and 57 g-grandchildren. (4) Campbell G. and Angeline A. (Williams) Roady's daughter Lucy Roady was born in Jersey County, IL. She married Leigh Roy Lawrence in 1907 in Jersey County, IL. Her husband - Leigh Roy Lawrence, died 28 Mar. 1968: "L. Lawrence funeral held in Bethalto": Funeral services were held in Bethalto at the Smith funeral home Wednesday morning for Leigh Roy Lawrence, 87, a native of Jersey county. Rev. Melvin Stanton of Jamesport, Mo., officiated and burial was in Bethalto city cemetery. Mr. Lawrence, 87, retired employee of Olin Industries, died Monday at Eunice Smith Nursing Home in Alton. A son of the late Mr. and Mrs. James N. Lawrence, he was born in Jersey county on 23 Oct. 1880. His survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Angeline Lawrence and Mrs. Martha Norman of Cottage Hills, two sons, Leigh Ray of Alton and Paul of St. Louis, 19 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren. His wife, the former Lucy Roady, whom he married at Fidelity in 1907, and a daughter, Mrs. Marie Hazzard, preceded him in death. (5) Campbell G. and Angeline A. (Williams) Roady's daughter Augusta May Roady was born in 1885 in Jersey County, IL. She married James W. Baker 8-8-1907 in Jersey County, IL. (6) Campbell G. and Angeline A. (Williams) Roady's daughter Alice Roady was born in 1880 in Jersey County, IL. She died 6-17-1969. She is buried at Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville, IL. She married George I. Downs 7-18-1897 in Jersey County, IL. He was born in 1868 and died 9-22-1943. He is buried at Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville, IL. They lived in Jerseyville, IL. (7) Campbell G. and Angeline A.
