The Balthrop family went from North Carolina to Tennessee to Texas before coming to the Ada, Oklahoma area. Some of the following information was taken from the Family Bible held by Elizabeth Biggs of McEwen, Tennessee.
William Balthrop was born in 1750 Westmoreland Co., VA; and died February 16, 1836 in Dickson Co., TN. He married in 1772 Mary Christian daughter of Drury Christian and Lucretia Lucy Williams. She was born in 1753 and died July 4, 1843.( info by Diane Lawson)

Sally Viola (Vi) Balthrop was born March 6, 1898 and died March 13, 1984 in Colorado. She married on October 3, 1915, William Jennings Bryan McAnally in Ada, Oklahoma. He was born January 1, 1897 in Yell County, AR to William (Bill) McAnally and Mary (Molly) Gibson, and died in 1961 of a heart attack while hunting near Gunnison, Colorado.

CPL. Winford J. McAnally was born February 20, 1917 in Ada, Oklahoma and died September 11, 1985 in Oregon. He married (1) Marie Unknown in 1933 (divorced) and (2) Gertrude Mae (Trudy) Swift on June 21, 1941 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

- Winford and Marie ran away and got married at the age of 16 to Guthrey, Oklahoma and did not tell his parents they had gotten married. A friend of his parents cut out the announcement and mailed it to them. That's when Mom and Dad found out Winford was married. They moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado where Winford and Marie had a baby girl. It was during the depression and jobs were hard to find. He worked long hours and it was hard work for little pay. Marie left with their baby girl and moved back to Ada, Oklahoma. Their baby girl, at 8 months of age, died of illness and neglect. Winford got a divorce and joined the Marines, stationed in California.
He met Turdy Swift while she was vacationing in California. She went back to her teaching job in New York and he was transferred to Hawaii. They wrote and decided to meet in Colorado Springs, Colorado at the home of his parents. When she got there, she found that they were going to be married at 3:00 pm that very day. So happily they got married. Then he flew back to Hawaii and she flew back to New York. Soon after his return, Winford was sent to Wake Island and began his fighting and imprisonment with the Japanese. He was imprisoned 41 months being taken prisoner from Wake Island on December 24, 1941. On September 17, 1945, the battleship KITKUN BAY, a part of Carrier Task Force 44, picked up the prisoners that had been under the hands of the Japanese and helped put them back on the road to the life long forgotten.
