The Estes family is found as early as 1495 in County Kent, England documented in "Estes Trails", 1993 and "Reminiscences of the Estes Family in Kent and Australia" by Neil Gunson, 1998.

Samuel Estes was born Prob. 1725 in Spotsylvania, King and Queens Co., VA and died in 1791 in Orange County, VA. He married (1) Elizabeth Estes Abt. 1740 and (2)Winnifred Holliday 22 July 1776.
Samuel is probably the son of Abraham Estes II born 1697 in Virginia and died on February 8, 1759 in Caroline County, VA. He married (1) Ann born 1690 and had Phillip, Catherine, Barbara, Mary, Samuel, Abraham. He married (2) Elizabeth Jeeter born 1697 and had Lucy, Elisha, Edmund, Benjamin, Mary Ann. Parentage has not been documented.

DeWeese Obit, Thursday, May 24, 1921: Miss Margaret Estes, born 29 April 1846, died 18 May 1921. She was first married to John Chambliss in 1864. They had three children, two of whom are living: Mrs. Sambo Cowsert and Thomas Chambliss. She married her second husband, John DeWeese, 25 February 1875. There were six children, five of whom are living: Mrs. William Skiles, Mrs. Arthur Lockerby, Mrs. Rolling Williams, John DeWeese and Arthur DeWeese, all of Golconda, IL. (Burial: Brown Cemetery, Pope County, IL)
