January 18, 1897 - January 9, 1988 William Jennings Bryan Coop, 90, of Batesville died Saturday morning. Born in Batesville, he was the son of John and Sarah Luster Coop, and a lifelong resident of Independence County. He was a retired contractor for the Southwestern Bell Telephone Co., and a cattle farmer. He was a member of the Pilgrims Rest Baptist Church, Woodmen of the World and a veteran of World War I. Survivors include his wife, Monnie Robinson Coop; a son, William B. Coop of Batesville; two daughters, Nina Coop McCarson and Betty Coop Cowden, both of Batesville; a sister; Pearl Wright of Batesville; four grandchildren, William Paul McCarson, James Bryan Ford and Tammy Coop, all of Batesville, and Tina Venable of Springfield, Mo; and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Crouch Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Wayne Wood, and the Rev. Jim Black officiating. Burial will be in the New Hope Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Arvil Wood, Ricky Wilson, Robert Kelley, Dorr Kelley, Dale Moore, Virgil Sisk, Clarence Lawrence and Larry Brown. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Kersey, Jim Lytle, Jim Crouch, Hayden Jeffrey and James O. Shaw. Memorials may be made to the New Hope Cemetery Fund. The family will be at the home of William B. Coop, 984 Boswell.
