Emeline Broughton

Emeline Broughton was the eldest child and daughter of Amos Broughton III and his wife Nancy Timmerman. She was born July 26, 1813. Emeline became the second wife of Daniel Lobdell who was from New York. To them were born: Luman A., Nancy Anne, Mary Jane, John W., Asbury A., Albury T., Taylor, and Millard. The youngest child, Millard was born in July 1850. He would never see his father. Daniel Lobdell joined the California gold rush and died away from his family in June of 1850. Emeline remarried. Her second husband was Frederick Fisk. Emeline died February 20, 1864 and was buried at Swan Cemetery in Noble County, Indiana.


Cordelia Broughton

Cordelia Broughton was born to Amos Broughton III and his wife Nancy Timmerman on August 6, 1824. She married New York-native Ephraim Cramer, born the son of Conrad and Magdelana Cramer on March 18, 1822. Ephraim was a farmer and a shoemaker. He constructed a sawmill and built one of the first businesses in the village of Swan, Indiana. Cordelia was the first school teacher in Swan Township.

Cordelia and Ephraim had eight children: Eugene, Miles E., Mary Alice, Merit W., Arthur, Edwin, Ida Bell, and William.

Cordelia died on January 26, 1905 and buried at Swan Cemetery with her husband who had passed away more than a decade earlier on June 18, 1892.


Lucia Ann Broughton

Lucia Ann Broughton was born to Amos Broughton III and his wife Nancy Timmerman on February 6, 1830. Like her sister Cordelia, Lucia also married into the Cramer family. Lucia married Daniel Cramer. He was born in New York on November 17, 1824 to Conrad and Magdelana Cramer. Lucia Ann would also follow in her sister Cordelia's footsteps and be recorded as an early Swan Township school teacher.

Lucia Ann and Daniel would raise a large family which included a total of 13 children: Orpha A., Eldridge D., Orra W., Emma M., Carnelia, Mary E., Annue, Ophelia, Cozelia, Alpheus, Daniel Wilbur, Walter and Maria.

Lucia Ann passed away on February 26, 1915 and is buried at Swan Cemetery in Noble County, Indiana.


Annue J. Broughton

Annue Broughton was born to Amos Broughton III and his wife Nancy Timmerman on March 15, 1832 in Jefferson County, New York. Annue married Luman A. Baker who was born in Ohio on November 13, 1832 to Alpheus and Mercy Baker.

The couple would have three children, two of whom were born prior to the Civil War. Cerena May and Eugene Merrill were born in 1855 and 1857 respectively. Their father, Luman enlisted in the 5th Indiana Battery (Artillery) in November 1861 at Whitley County, Indiana. He served less than a year when he became ill and died on July 23, 1862. His death came just a month after Annue gave birth to their third child named Millie Luella.

Annue would not live to see her children raised to adulthood. She passed away on December 10, 1867 and is buried beside her mother at Swan Cemetery in Noble County, Indiana. Annue's husband, Luman is buried in the Baker family plot at Lisbon Cemetery.
