He died on Monday, 21st May 1917 at the age of 22. His parents
were Arthur and Annie Broughton, of Longworth. His memorial is
located at Longworth (St Mary) Churchyard, Berkshire, United
Kingdom.
- B BROUGHTON -
Private - King's Own (Royal Lancaster Regt.) transf. to (191252),
Labour Corps. He died on Friday, 24th September 1920 at the age
or 24. His memorial is located at Inghamite Hurch, Wheatley Carr,
Lancashire, United Kingdom (Panel # XI.288)
- BERNARD BROUGHTON
- Private - 17th Bn., The King's (Liverpool Regiment.) He died
on Thursday, 12th October 1916. His name can be found on the
Thiepval Memorial (Panel: Piere & Face 1D8B & 8C)
- BERTIE BROUGHTON
- Corporal - 41st Siege Bty., Royal Garrison Artillery
He died on Tuesday, 10th September 1918. He was 26-years-old.
His parents were Thomas Joseph and Lillian Mary Broughton, of
West Hartlepool. His wife was Wylda Broughton, of 21, Rodney
St., West Hartlepool. His memorial is in the Dernancourt Communal
Cemetery Extension (Panel#VIII.F.13) located a little west of
the villiage of Dernancourt south of the town of Albert, Somme,
France. The Communal Cemetery was used for Commonwealth burials
from September, 1915, to August, 1916 when the Extension was
opened, and again in the Retreat of March, 1918. For a short
time in 1918, the Extension was in German hands until it was
recaptured by the 12th Division and 33rd American division on
August 9th. There are now over 2,000, 1914-18 war casualties
commemorated in this site. Of these nearly 200 are unidentified.
