He was the son of Edward and Margaret Broughton and the husband of Alice Edith Broughton of Ramsgate, Kent. Memorial: His memorial is located on Panel Number: 60, 3 on the Chatham Naval Memorial, which is located up a steep path from the Chatham Town Hall Gardens in Chatham, Kent, UK.

    He died on Saturday, 14th October 1939. His memorial is on Panel 36, Column 1 of the Portsmouth Naval Memorial in Hampshire, United Kingdom.

His memorial is located on Panel 8 of the Halifax Memorial at Point Pleasant Park in Nova Scotia, Canada. This big, granite, cross memorializes the 24-sunken ships and nearly 2,000 members of the Royal Canadian Navy lost during World War II, including Arthur W. Broughton.
