V Humbert Broughton (born December 19, 1908, in Palestine, the son of Z & Laura Camp Broughton) and his wife, Helen Walker, lived in Houston County Lake.
V H was an operator for the Exxon Corporation for 37 years.
V H was a Mason and Shriner.
V H died at the age of 78 on Saturday, July 18, 1987 at Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler, TX.
According to an article published in the Palestine TX Herald-Press the day after his death, V H was survived by "his wife, Helen; daughter, Selma Broughton Webb of Tyler; sons, Jake Broughton of Palestine and Steven Broughton of Houston County Lake; sisters Ann Pritchett and Eloise Wyatt of Palestine (wife of James Dave Wyatt), Leona Gatewood of Whitehouse (wife of Jack Gatewood), Celeste Phillips of Houston (wife of Cliff Phillips); brother Herbert Broughton of Baytown; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren."
He was buried at Ferguson Cemetery.
