WORLD HARVEST MINISTRIES

Projects

Hurricane Georges in the Dominican
street sign

Two of our missionaries, Jason Claspell and Jesica Landreth are going to the Dominican Republic on Saturday, October 3 for a period of two weeks to help with the clean-up effort going on in Santo Domingo.

home

The Dominican was hit hard and an estimated 200,000 people were left homeless as a result of the storm.

house

Most of these people are currently staying in overcrowded and unsanitary shelters where there are only four toilets for every 2000 people.

mess

Theses conditions are causing an outbreak of deadly diseases such as cholera and dengue fever. The casulties in the DR are estimated at between 475 and 1000 people but there is no way to get an accurate account because many people killed were migrant workers with no one to claim them and many were buried or washed away in the mud slides. 2000 people are still classified as missing.

clean-up

Most have no drinkable water or food and are left without any personal belongings except for the clothes on their back, if they had any to begin with.

trash

80% of the agriculture of this tropical island was wiped out. This means that there isn't much shade, crops are gone, and the streets are piled with trees as well as other trash.
salvage

Many lost all belongings and are greatly in need of clothes and food.
Please pray for the Dominicans and for Jason and Jesica.

The Lord has provided for us. All of our needs to make this trip possible were met. The missionaries were able to take about 500 pounds of supplies including, medicine, vitamins, clothes, and flashlights which mostly came from the Bread of Life Food Pantry in Lynville, Indiana.
The monetary support which came mostly from college students, provided plane tickets and money for more supplies when they arrive in the Dominican.

Vanderburgh County Correction Complex

The SAFE House has taken out all twelve step and religious programs for the inmates. Right now everything looks good for us to bring in a bible study and prison outreach. Our goal is to start sometime in November. Please pray that everything continues to fall into place.

Rescue Mission

We will help in serving meals and leading bible studies to the hungry and homeless at the shelter. Pray that strong relationships will be built in Christ, and that leaders will come out of the mission.

Impact Ministries

Pray that racial tension continues to be reconciled and that relationships built on solid foundations continue to grow.

Campus Ministry

We will be working with our home church New Beginnings Christian Fellowship and other Campus Ministries. Please be in prayer for the upcoming outreaches at USI and UE.

Food Outreach

Our goal is to have one food outreach per month.
