Dad's 80th Birthday Party - Elbe Steam Train Ride: July 4, 2001

The story we gave Mom and Dad is that my friend (Jim) and I were taking them on the Elbe Steam Train Ride to celebrate Dad's birthday.  We gave them dates to choose from.  They picked July 4.  As far as they knew, the plan was to go on the ride and return to their place for cake and ice cream.   Harold and Shannon flew out from Nebraska, Vicki and Eric came over from Walla Walla, Carol and Lee (a niece and husband from Edmonds) were there too.  They all met us in Elbe so it truly was a surprise for the folks.
