Finished the sound mix on schedule and pretty much on budget. Such a feeling. This filmmaking is kind of like walking through a hall of mirrors. You don't really realize you're out of the maze until you've seen your last reflection and are out of the building. Then you kind of want to go back inside.
And it sounds wonderful, and, even more important, the film flows incredibly well. Can't wait to see the crisp projected image and get away from the low-res version I've had to live with for ages now.
Now it's time to get cracking on the lab work. I need to redo the video reels with the missing window dub time code and with the two-pop trailers. Then it's off to the lab for negative conforming: the video dailies, the EDL (which I need to get from Zachary), the negatives and the reels. Meanwhile I need to decide on a title maker and get the title requirements from Alpha Cine, or whichever lab I go with for the release print.
In parallel with all of this I need to have an online version made, and make dupes for the cast and crew. I need to decide whether or not I want to wait and use the film titles, or generate new ones for the video version. I'm opting for the latter, as it means I can do the film version and the online video version at the same time, not having to wait for the titles to be filmed. BIC wants a version soon. I'll need to contact them and see what the deadline is and if Beta will work if it's too soon for me to get them a print.
