Friday, December 19, 1997 - Blow-Ups and Release Prints

Called Alpha Cine to get a quote on a release print. Didn't realize how much information they would need, but now that I think about it, it makes perfect sense. A/B rolls? How many credit boards? How many dissolves? Especially fast or slow? Special effects? The list goes on.

It was a pipe dream to think I could afford a 35mm blow-up. We're talking *serious* money. The goal at this stage is to get something in projectable form for the fim festivals. If a distributor picks it up, then we'll worry about dialogue tracks, foley and the like. I don't want to skimp on the sound mix or the lab work, but I need to be realistic as to what I can afford.

I'll be meeting with folks regarding the final sound mix Saturday morning, to see about the bid and what can be done with the funds that I have available.

Meanwhile music leads are trickling in. I should take care of that and talk to the editors about making it tight.

I was looking through old notebooks to find the contact name for Alpha Cine. It triggered memories of all the phone calls, all the running around chasing my tail, useless leads, lucky breaks, trivial tasks, extensive research, all the things that go in to making a movie, the stuff I've been doing the last few years. Whoo! I had no idea, and I'm so tired, and broke now. I must've been out of my mind. But I haven't gone into debt, and I'm still standing.

Everything is going to be alright.
