Last week, on a video interview with producer Rick McCallum at the website
for the German TV Station N-TV, McCallum says that, they just got back
from Australia and locked the locations within Tunisia, Italy, Portugal,
and Australia. Currently, he is just waiting for the final script and
then builing sets will start in November and shooting in June. When

I couldn't tell you that." prequelnews.net
- Qui Gon's Disappearance
Qui-Gon Jin did not disappear [along with Darth Vader--who did not disappear]
because he was not "pure" with the Force. If you remember, Qui-Gon was
always betraying the Council--Yoda and Obi-Wan did not. -Balfes
- Natalie Portman would
be in Episode II
Hmm... this is a follow up to the previous news found below. According
to a source, she would not be doing anything outside Star Wars.
- Luke's lightsaber
The lightsabers used in STAR WARS: A NEW HOPE , will be the ones that
wiil be used in EPISODE II. Meaning that the lightsaber the future Anakin
will yield will be the same (or almost identical to) the one given to
Luke by Obi-Wan. ("Your father wanted you to have this when you were
old enough, but your uncle ...") Thanks

- Discussion: Episode
2 title
Here's a clue to what Episode 2 title might be, according to John, I
went to a website that had a few quotes and interviews from George Lucas.
I remember a certain interview in particular where Lucas talked about
the titles of the prequels and the original three for that matter. He
mentioned that each title in sequence trades off from the good side
to the dark side and so forth ( ie: IV: A New Hope, V: The Empire Strikes
Back, VI: Return of the Jedi). He also mentioned that the titles of
the prequels will run opposite of the original three. For example, Episode
IV is a positive title leaning toward the light side of the force, but
Episode I (The Phantom Menace) is a negative title leaning toward the
dark side of the force. This means that Episode II will likely have
a positive title opposite the dark, "The Empire Strikes Back".
- Natalie Portman putting
career on hold
The Mail, a UK newspaper, on Sunday came out with this article, "The
Phantom Menace beauty Natalie Portman is putting her blossoming carreer
on hold to go to Harvard University. Portman has turned down the chance
to reprise her role as Queen Amidala to concentrate on her degree. '
I just want to keep my feet on the ground and get an education', she
said 'I've got plenty of time for other things "
This unconfirmed info was found on theforce.net and was brought
to my attention by several UK readers.
- More info on confirmed
info
During the San Diego Comic Convention, Steve Sansweet, LucasFilm's Director
of Fan Relations held a Q&A session. Here's a summary:
-Episode 2 has no official title. It will be directed by Lucas, and
he may direct Episode 3.
-In the next episodes, we will definately see why Qui-Gon didn't dissappear
at the end of TPM.
-Darth Maul is GONE and he is NOT coming back.
-All indoor shooting for Ep. 2 will be in Australia.
-Boba Fett will play a major role in Ep. 2
This actually confirms what we already know and re-confirms the rumours
found on this page.
- Episode 2 to be released
earlier
According to theforce.net, the contributor managed to talk to Rick McCallum
in the Irish Premiere of TPM last month. After the conversation, he
said "Roll on 2002!" and McCallum looked at him, smiled and said "It
may be sooner than you think," and walked away. It might be something
else, but who knows.
- Lightsabers
Here are some facts regarding lightsabers:-
- The Mandalorian's armor can stop a light saber (Thanks to ChimiMylez)
- If light is concentrated in an area so intensely and with so much
power it turns purple. (Thanks to Ben Edwards)
- Plot Rumours
Here's something from Paul, It is rumoured from from a very reliable
source that in Episode 2 will see Mace Windu in an elaborate light saber
duel with Darth Sidious' new apprentice (still unknown) with windu being
defeated and Yoda finally defeating him. It
is also rumoured that Jar Jar Binks becomes ruler of the underwater
city, after Boss Nas attempts to have Queen Amidala assasinated.
- Lucas: Maul not returning
George Lucas in an interview with Empire Magazine said that Darth Maul
would NOT be coming back. Here's a peice of the article, 'At one
point, when Obi-Wan kills Darth Maul, he just fell into the pit. I looked
at it and thought this isn't going to work because, if people like him
enough, they are going to want him to come back and they're going to
assume somehow he gets out of it. So I had to cut him in half to say
this guy's gone, he's history, he ain't coming back. I'll come up with
another apprentice. The whole issue of having apprentices, poor Darth
Sidious trying to replenish his apprentice supply, is one of the main
plot points.' Taken from episdoeii.com
- Brendan Fraser as
Anakin?
Tony from NYC heard from a radio station, Z100, that Brendan Fraser
is the top choice to play Anakin for Episode 2 and and he is currently

This might be yet another rumour as casting has not begun yet and would
not start until the the end of september.

as being 'pure evil'.
- Naboo to be destroyed?
A quote from Rick McCallums
at TalkCity, "Remember, you will discover two new worlds never before
seen in the "Star Wars" galaxy, and that "A New Hope" takes place after
the Empire has destroyed the worlds that you will learn about in "The
Phantom Menace."
Rumours has it that Naboo will be destroyed by the Empire. note:
