I have always liked Oliver Reed since I was little. Seeing him in some film or other, my mother liking him ( or not) and not realizing who he was.

Anyway, for about 15 years or so, I've gotten to like and love his performances. on and off-screen. I was on holiday in Malta, (booked since Xmas 1998) just under a year ago and thought to pay our respects at 'The Pub'.

My husband sat in THE corner unknowingly, at 2:30, June 2nd 1999. A month since.... it was Quite eerie to be honest since we hadn't paid much attention to any detail to times etc., of the sad occurrence, only that Reed had died very recently there.

Anyway, I found this website today, May 1st, and will be logging on often from now on. Excellent!

With respect, remember tomorrow...

Just writing to add my opinion to Oliver Reed's finest performance. One that seems to have slipped through the net is Blue Blood from about 1971.

It's one of the most bizarre films I've ever seen, and believe me that' a lot of odd movies. He plays a sadistic butler to Derek Jacobi's fey aritocrat. Ollie's performance is staggering: both comical and sinister by turns. He occassionally adopts a strange hybrid accent and an odd walk which only highlights the absurdity of the whole film further.

Can I just add that it's a joy to see a site dedicated to Reed the actor rather than the, er, dubious celebrity he became in his later years. He was a truly gifted man, and an excellent actor to boot. Anyone with his accent who bases his entire method (untarined of course) on Jack Palance has got to be a winner!

I felt the need to send a message to the site today, on this fine and wondrous day, one year to the day that the GREAT one passed away, I have been thinking about Ollie all day today and drinking to his name, I feel that he would have wanted us all to have lot's to drink, ogle lot's of beautiful 18 year old women and have that fantastic time.

You will always be remembered for the MAN that you were Ollie. I hope you are having a great time up there with Mooney, and the other fine drinkers of all ages, LET THE PARTY GO ON!!!!

I first saw Hannibal Brooks in 1969 when I was 10 and was just mesmorized by his performance as the "anti-war Brooks". Also Castaway was a great movie when he played, perhaps one of my distant relatives.

Oliver Reed was always my favorite actor. I enjoyed his biography Reed All About Me in 1980.

Thank you for the site dedicated to a true legend. Gladiator proves what a magnificent actor he was. I will tell my grandchildren what a legend he was. As Vanessa Redgrave said in tribute to Ollie after his death: "What I loved about Ollie was that he never once apologized for who he was."

Well, I just saw Gladiator and I was captivated through the whole movie. What a treat.

I have been a fan of Reed's since I worked as Reed's stand-in during the filming of on Assault on Paradise (Ransom) filmed in Arizona in the 70s. I still have the shirt he gave me.

Oliver Reed was an inspiration to me and I will always consider him a friend. We had a great time in Arizona. I will never forget working with him.

I loved Oliver as the werewolf. Mr. Reed made it his own and I can't think of anyone else who could have done as   well with the part.  It was his sexy dangerous side that appealed to me.

I was all excited to see Oliver in his latest film, until heard  him being addressed as the "late" great  Oliver Reed.  We shared the same birthday, Feb. 13.th    His was earlier (mine is in 1957).   But I was thrilled anyway.

I always liked Oliver.  He could play the sexy menacing role to the T,--perhaps it was himself.  Well,  he did it better than anyone else. Mr. Reed acted from the heart.  It was not about making all the money.  And I feel, well    damm, he had fun.

I'm so happy you have this site.  I think he would approve.

I became an Oliver Reed fan at a very young age. Being born in 1963, I was brought up on his films, and to this day consider him still one of my faves.

He was not only a superb actor but also incredibly handsome! If you see Curse of the Werewolf, you'll see his eyes are so beautiful; what a sex machine!

I can't believe he's gone. I read the paper and watch the news, but never heard a word of him passing on, I just found out today when I looked up the Hammer site and found this one.

Hey, at least we still have his memory through his movies. God bless Ollie. I love you baby.

And thanks for this website.

It is a rough month for me as it marks Reed's passing on. Somehow I always assumed he'd be around, entertaining his true fans...and being a royal pain in the rear as usual. I haven't the heart nor the courage to visit the theatre as of yet I'm ashamed to admit. Perhaps Gladiator is to be best viewed alone for me upon it's release on tape.

This site has been wonderfully instrumental for me and I'd like to thank those who have put their time and heart into it's construction and continuance. It gives us all a common ground, a meeting place to share our memories and tributes to a truly remarkable man/actor.

In your honor, Reed...I visit once again, and I remember...always.

On May 4th, 2000 we girls at work were discussing "hot" actors and everyone named their favorite. I, of course named Oliver Reed. That was when I found out the world lost Oliver Reed. What can you say about a man you have lusted after for 34 years? I am devastated!

I loved Oliver Reed ever since I saw him in the werewolf movie, but I really fell in love with him when I saw him in The Trap (1966), also starring Rita Tushingham. It was the kind of film I didn't want to end.

I was shocked when I found out he was dead, and at such a young age. I will go see his last film and thank you for letting me know what it was.

I will be returning again.

I am probably the youngest Oliver Reed fan there is. I am 23 years old and grew up watching Oliver! and singing the songs with my mom as a kid. I never gave mean, brooding Bill Sikes a second thought until one day last fall when I stayed home sick from work. I spent the day watching old movies on TV and saw The Three Musketeers. I instantly remembered Oliver Reed from Oliver! and became an avid, avid fan. He is one of the most irresistibly attractive men I've ever seen, and his quiet, slightly menacing character in Musketeers was absolutely wonderful. I watched the movie four times in that one week.

Unfortunately I was unaware of his death until recently, but I thoroughly enjoyed his performance in Gladiator and find it interestingly parallels the loss of man whose wilder days are now behind him. (although his brooding wasn't as pronounced as usual).

I agree with Mark Darvell (March 2000) that we need more wild stories about the wild man and  I know that everyone thought the great man was a joke but he was the last Hell-raiser Britain produced .

He was a great actor who made some great films and a few bad ones (beer money). Nevertheless he is a legend and should be remembered for his great acting and screen prescence and not for staggering onto aspel and all that nonsense. I shall drink tonight to the great man`s honour

Am listening to the Gladiator soundtrack on the CD rom drive as I am typing this.  Like the movie, the soundtrack CD has a dedication to Oliver Reed.

We saw Gladiator in Niagara Falls last Saturday.  The reviewer in the Toronto Star newspaper said it was sad and ironic that Oliver Reed's best film since Women in Love would be his last, and suggested that it was worthy of a Best Supporting Actor nomination for an Oscar.  I would have to agree.  Gladiator is one of the best films I have seen in years.  Russell Crowe and the rest of the cast are amazingly good in this epic blockbuster.  Oliver Reed acts his heart out.

I was not able to pick out the cut and paste done to finish the movie after Oliver Reed died, but my husband said he could tell the last speeches done by Oliver Reed had a different voice.

David Hemmings is also in the movie, and although good in his role, it is sad to see that the ravages of time have not been kind to him.  Even though this cannot be Oliver Reed's comeback film, I hope that it is David Hemmings comeback, and that life is kinder to him from now on.

Will keep reading this site for news and updates on Oliver Reed projects.  Keep up the great work.
