- December 15, 1997: The Boston Society of Film Critics awards Al Pacino with the 1997 Best Actor award for "Donnie Brasco." "Donnie Brasco" also receives an honor for third place film, placing behind "The Sweet Hereafter" and grand-prize winner "L.A. Confidential."
- October 29, 1997: The New York Post claims that Al is said to want to return to Broadway in Eugene O'Neill's "The Iceman Cometh" during 1998. I repeat - AL PACINO MAY RETURN TO BROADWAY IN 1998!!!! Pacino's last stage production was O'Neill's "Hughie" in 1996, which he also directed.
- October 25, 1997: Pacino is honored in Washington, D.C. by the National Italian American Foundation.
- October 16, 1997: Al Pacino gets his hand and foot prints in cement in front of Mann's Chinese Theater in Hollywood. Many fans ask: "What the hell took so long???"
- July 19, 1997: "Chinese Coffee," Al's latest spot in the director's chair, is currently being filmed in New York City. Not only is Al directing this independent film but is also playing a character named Harry. The movie is based on a play of the same name Pacino performed on Broadway in 1992. The film will debut at Cannes Film Festival in May.
- June 30, 1997: Sorry, ladies! Looks like Al's been snatched up again. Beverly D'Angelo, Al Pacino's most recent girlfriend, has reportedly moved in with Pacino into his suburban New York home. She hasn't sold her house in L.A. yet, though. Still, D'Angelo spent Father's Day with Pacino and his 7-year-old daughter Julie Marie. Close sources say that they are getting "very serious."
