Executive Producer Miles Millar talks about the upcoming fourth season of Smallville and the guy revealed this year will see some big movement in the mythology.
First up the season premiere will see Clark flying - "He doesn't fly as Clark. He flies as Kal-El. The first episode is all about visualizing the internal fight between Clark and Kal-El. Clark Kent represents his Earth-bound persona, the kid who was brought up by the Kents. And Kal-El represents the person that Jor-El wants him to be. This personifies that".
As in all the previous seasons (X-Ray for S1, Heat Vision for S2, Super Hearing for S3), Clark will discover a special power but it WON'T be flight as we see in the premiere. The best guess is freezing breath to which Millar replied "It might be, there aren't many powers left".
This season will also focus on Clark's senior year of high school and heads toward a big revelation at the end - "Clark Kent, at the end of this year, will really graduate. And we're introducing a whole new mythology as well that will involve Lana, Lex and Clark. And at the end of the season we pay off something that is huge in the Superman mythology. It all leads towards something. Diehard fans of the mythology will realize what it is pretty quickly, others won't".
