Robert C. Bass Jr. is a native of Greensburg,
Ohio where he attended Green High School. He received his Bachelor degree
in Music Education and Euphonium Performance from the University of Cincinnati,
College Conservatory of Music in 1985. In addition to his duties at Fairborn
High School, Mr. Bass has been a guest conductor and clinician throughout
the state of Ohio. Mr. Bass is a member of Music Educators National Conference,
Ohio Music Education Association, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia.
Robert Bass is in his tenth year as
Director of Bands at Fairborn High School. Prior to his appointment at
Fairborn, Mr. Bass taught one year at Williamsburg High School (Williamsburg,
OH) and two years at Green Junior High School (Green, OH). During his tenure
at Fairborn, the Symphonic Band has performed in the 1990 Montreal Music
Festival, 1996 Toronto Music Festival, and the 1996 O.M.E.A. State Convention
held in Dayton, Ohio. This year the Symphonic Band will be participating
in the Bands of America National Concert Band Festival as the first representative
for the state of Ohio. Bands conducted by Mr. Bass have consistently received
superior ratings and have been awarded numerous honors in concert and marching
events. Mr. Bass responsibilities include director of the Symphonic
Band, Concert Band, Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band, Marching Band, Pep Band,
and 6th 7th and 8th grade brass sectionals in the Fairborn City School
District.
Mr. Bass' wife Susan, is a band director
at Kings Local School District. They have one son, Andrew, three, who is
the highlight of their lives.
William M. Carver
is a native of Dayton, Ohio. He is a 1977 graduate of Wright State University
(BM) where he performed in the WSU Symphonic Band under the direction of
Dr. Myron D. Welch and was president of the campus chapter of the Music
Educator s National Conference. During the summer of 1978, he was the Master
Carpenter for the Wright State University Theater Department. Mr. Carver
is in his twenty-first year with the Fairborn City Schools, a member of
the Ohio Music Education Association, and is currently the Woodwind specialist
for grades six through twelve, eighth grade band director, assistant director
of the 181 member Skyhawk Marching Band, and associate director for the
high school's Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, and Symphonic Band.
Prior to becoming a
music educator, he worked in television for nine years as a feature film
editor and associate director for the Phil Donahue Show. He is the recipient
of the Outstanding Young Man of America award, and the 1987 & 1990
Barbershopper-of-the-Year awards for the S.P.E.B.S.Q.S.A. Bill enjoys boating,
Ham radio, and traveling with his wife, of 13 years, Helen.
