About Me

Hi! My name is Cossette, but my friends call me Cossy. I created this Gone With the Wind page all by myself, after figuring out that I could do so very easily inWordPerfect. Now, about me. I am not allowed to tell everything about myself, for privacy's sake.

Favorites: (This is anything I like pretty much) Gone With the Wind, Evita, acting, singing, Gone With the Wind, the Muppets (they're so cute!), English class, QUEEN! (Freddy Mercury's voice is the best!), oldies music, high school, weekends, the Internet, e-mailing people, Gone With the Wind, Shadow of the Moon and Trade Wind (M.M. Kaye books), my web page, The Amanda Pepper series (Gillian Roberts), going to the Scarlett Fever bulletin boards, Art class, my friends (Persephone, Smadryblanda, and Breezer), Gone With the Wind, and Gone With the Wind.

Non-Favorites: Computers that do not cooperate, scanners that hate me, siblings at times, when Hotmail is down for days on end, onions, peppers, headaches, Spice Girls, not having Cable T.V., people who spell my last name wrong (I can't tell you my real name, but people ALWAYS put an 'a' in my last name where there really isn't one!)

The Story of My Gone With the Wind Page

I created this page on a whim. I read Gone With the Wind at my cottage, where we do not have computers. When I got home, I found that my old page no longer did anything for me. (I had a Simpsons Link Page since I was eleven.) I went to Yahoo! and found out that there were more people like me: totally obsessed with Gone With the Wind! I was so happy. Then, I discovered that in WordPerfect, you can easily make a web page. That was the only part I couldn't do, for I know HTML, just not enough to make a page from scratch. I created the skeleton of what you now see. It had an introductory page, like it does now, and write ups on five actors, Margaret Mitchell, the book, and the movie. Several really great people visited, and when I found the web ring, and got registered in Yahoo!, I decided that because people were interested enough to come to my page, I owed it to them to make a great page. So I kept adding, spending up to eleven hours a day, scanning in graphics and computer enhancing them to make them clearer, researching for a Margaret Mitchell biography (that took me a period of time equivalent to two days!) and other such jobs to make it better. And here I am! I was fourteen when I designed this page, put it on the net, and in less than a year, (much less, more like half a year) this is the result.

How I Came to Love Gone With the Wind

When I was younger, nine or ten, I had pneumonia twice in one month. Because I was off school for so long, my mother wanted me to do something productive, so she dragged out a copy of Gone With the Wind -- one from the original publication! I sat down, and read the first few pages, but I couldn't get into it. So the book was returned to the shelf, and my mother was disappointed, because she loved the book when she was a child.

Years later, we were going up to my cottage near Plymouth, Massachusetts, and my mother bought me a second hand copy of Gone With the Wind from a used bookstore. Because I hadn't liked it before, I was very reluctant to read it. Finally, after putting it off for half a month and reading all of the other books that we had brought (I love reading and am a fast reader) there was nothing left but Gone With the Wind. So, finally, I started it at about three o'clock in the afternoon. I finished it at two a.m., tear stains on my cheeks from the death of Melly. (I really did cry my eyes out, for Melly was my favorite character.) After that, I was hooked. There is a really neat movie store near my cottage, and I went there. They had Gone With the Wind stuff on sale, so I spent all the American money I had. I started to collect trading cards, postcards, etc. then, I began pricing the movie. It cost $99 U.S., so I looked once I got back to Canada. Here, I found it for about $110 with tax, and in Canadian currency, so it was cheaper. I watched the movie a million times, cried when Bonnie and Melly died, and when Rhett left Scarlett. (Gee, I'm almost crying just thinking about it!) And so, I made this page!
