First, the wife of Spenser's old pal Sergeant Frank Belson vanishes without a trace; then the sergeant is brutally assaulted and left for dead. The clues are nonexistent, and the potential for danger is both extraordinary and explosive—a scenario tailor-made for Spenser and his lethal colleague Chollo.
