I went to an all girls high school where I really discovered my love for performing. I think that it was my sophomore year when a new dance teacher, Cynthia Kaye, joined the faculty. Through her influence, I moved from behind the scenes in stage crew to being on the stage in performances. I even sang in front of an audience for the first time. She was always encouraging me to be the best I could be. I was in several dance performances, of which I only listed a few in my resume. I then tried out for cheerleading and made the squad. When I graduated from high school, I really started to get the acting bug. I auditioned for the lead role in the movie "Walk on the Clouds". At the time, I really didn't know what I was doing. I didn't have a headshot or a resume; I guess I felt that I would just be "discovered". It was not until the last two years that I really started to educate myself on the business of acting. I read biographies on how many successful actors began their careers. To my dismay, I discovered that there really were no "overnight" sensations; most of the actors had been working for at least 10 years before reaching success. I decided to dedicate myself to my acting career. I obtained an agent, got my headshot done, and I have been pursuing it ever since. You really have to love acting to pursue it as a career. Like most
actors, I have found times when I
just wanted to give up. But everytime I watch another actor perform,
whether it be on stage or in a
movie, I fall in love with acting all over again. I am fascinated
by the way an actor can make me
laugh or cry. I am an actor because I want to make people feel emotions
through my acting. It is
both challenging and rewarding. I truly believe in pursuing your dreams.
We only get one chance
on this Earth, why not live it to it's fullest.
