Gadgets

James Bond has survived most every film because of the spectacular gadgets he is given by Q. Q himself is deservant of applause for saving 007's life many a time. Here is the display of Q's ingenuitites.

Q

Q has been played for the last 16 Bond films by Desmond Llewelyn. He is currently 82 years old and is an encyclopedia in the gadgetry and weaponry of the Bond movies. His gadgets have included exploding watches, trick guns, lethal umbrellas, and acid-carrying pens.

Llewelyn is of Welsh descent and has a lot of stage and film experience. Llewelyn admits that in real life he is not mechanically apt and admits that his favorite Bond gadget of all time was the original Aston Martin automobile with the ejector seat in Goldfinger

In the films, Q is a techno-wizard who creates wonderful and spectacular gadgets, weapons, and other objects to aid James Bond in the completion of his mission and continuance of his life. Q is an integral part of the Bond films. Needless to say, without Q, Bond would be long dead. (However, Bond's longetivity is not totally dependent on Q's gadgets. Rather, it is Bond's quick thinking that saves his life.)

Bond's Guns

Bond chose the Walther PPK 7.65mm and from then on into the movies, Agent 007 used the PPK.

Tomorrow Never Dies, James Bond is introduced to the new and more powerful Walther P99 9mm pistol. The P99 is a double/single action polymer framed pistol with a 16 shot magazine capacity. There is more power than the PPK. HandGunning magazine gave the P99 a rave review, calling it the gun designed for the next millenium.
