How to set a wallpaper...

To set an image from the resort as your desktop wallpaper, there are several options at your disposal.

The obvious way -on Win32 based systems- would be to press the right mouse button and select the "set as wallpaper" option.

However, there is a twist to this shortcut. Though the pictures you see here are all 1024 by 768 pixels in size, they are displayed on this site in a smaller format of 560 by 420. Windows is unaware of this scaling when it reformats the image to fit your desktop. The result will most probably be that you end up with a very jagged image.

So, the best way would probably be to save the image in some useful folder (like "c:\windows\wallpapers") and use the screen-properties dialog to change the wallpaper. This will work on all systems, like Mac, X (Linux) or Beos.

And now that you are in the screen-properties anyway, you can select an appropriate backgroud color to the wallpaper. Select a color that blends well with the background. This way your icons will seem to float within the image and the text seems to be printed on a transparant background. Others prefer a contrasting color, to make their icons stand out on their desktop. It's all up to a matter of taste, I guess.
