The Sasquatch popularly known as the Bigfoot, a large
apelike creature was first sighted in 1924 in Ape Canyon, Washington by
a miner, Fred Beck and several of his colleagues. Apparently, they shot
dead one such creature and in retaliation, a group of these creatures
assaulted their cabin with large rocks in the dead of the night.
Thankfully, the cabin that housed the men was sturdy enough to withstand
the steady onslaught. When dawn approached, the frustrated attackers
went away, leaving behind their gigantic footprints on the ground. So
startled were the men that they abandoned the cabin and mine, never to
return. In subsequent years, more sightings of these large apelike
creatures were reported by early settlers in America. To the native
Americans, such creatures were not something entirely new. In fact, they
call such creatures Sasquatch or mountain giants. The name ‘Bigfoot’
was later given to them for their enormous feet ( about 14.5 inches long
by 6 inches wide ). From then on, Americans and the world alike have
been intrigued and fascinated by these elusive creatures.
