Lastly, we shall be finding out more about the Nepalese Yeti, more commonly known as the “Abominable Snowman”, a huge, hairy, half-man half-beast that lives in caves high in the mountains. It is said to be bowlegged, its apelike arms reaching down to its knees, and so muscular that it can rip up trees by the roots. It reputedly moves about on all fours or swings from tree to tree.

Name: Yeti

Nickname: Abominable Snowmen

Origins: Related to the Neanderthal man

Size: Based on reports of sightings, there seems to be three distinct types of Yeti: small, large and extra-large, all or none of them which may be related. Most of the reports also say that the creature is about 2 metres tall

Colour: According to the Sherpas, the Snowman has body hair that is thick and dark, but the face appears to be white and humanoid.

Lifestyle: Again, Sherpas say that the creatures feed off yaks, snow worms, and a saline moss that grows on the rocks of moraines. However, when desperately hungry, they go down into the valleys and carry off human beings.

Home: the Highest Himalayan forests, deep in almost impenetrable thickets.
