PART 4 OF: 4
SPOILER/SUMMARY: Set directly after the episode (#80), "Lenny's
Crush"; when the girls take a magazine quiz, they discover who their 'soul mates' are supposed to be; they make a bet to discover who they really
are; for better or worse...
NOTES: The plot changed a wee bit in mid-stream, but I think it came out fairly funny! Here's the conclusion!
STILL FOR ASHLEY
****
(Scene Five:-Tag)
(Fade In.: Ext. Knapp Street, night. We hear the strains of 'Little
Sister', as sung by Elvis Presley.
CUT: Scene: Int. Laverne and Shirley's apartment. Shirley's sitting on the couch, writing in her diary, and Laverne's sitting behind the
kitchen counter, sipping at her milk 'n' Pepsi.)
SHIRLEY -vo as she writes-: "Dear Diary: Boy, did I learn a lesson today. It's a good thing that everything worked out for the best. Now, I'm just glad that Mr. DeFazio's such a nice guy. But boy, am I ever relieved to realize that he isn't my soulmate! He's like a second father to me, and I sure can't imagine having babies with him! At least he got to take Edna to the Monsterfest, while Carmine and I had a lovely night together at the Pizza Bowl....and afterwards...More on that tomorrow, when I have time to code that baby up. I still feel bad for making Laverne go out with Lenny, but she looks like she's none-the-worse-for-wear from her date . Laverne told me that she still didn't feel anything for him; no spark, no goosebumps. Ah well; I guess Mr. DeFazio's right; I guess relationships build up in time, and silly things like birthdays don't mean a thing. At least Laverne hasn't lost her generous spirit. She even insisted on paying for half of the new Elvis record when she came home tonight." -Shirley sets down her diary for a moment, then picks it up- "PS: Must remember: No more Cosmo quizzes. Only Ladies Home Weekly. Just remember: There's no such thing as a soulmate!" -satisfied, she closes and locks up her diary, taking it with her as she makes her way to the bedroom- "Laverne! I'm going to bed."
LAVERNE: "That's OK. Do ya mind if I listen to side two one more time?"
SHIRLEY: "Is that the side with the ballads on it?"
-Laverne smiles and nods-
SHIRLEY: " Night!" -she exits the living room and enters the bedroom-
(CUT TO: Laverne, watching with sly eyes for the light to go off in Shirley's room. She sneaks over to the record player, flips the album over, and opens the closet door....Which Lenny steps out of, holding a rose and smiling. To the strains of 'I Can't Help Falling In Love With You", She wraps her arms around his neck and kisses him.)
(CUT TO: Ext. Knapp Street Building. We zoom out as we hear...)
SHIRLEY:-vo-: "Laverne, have you seen my melon face cre..." -her speech cuts off as she screams, presumably on seeing Lenny. The Elvis song fades to a short orchestral flurry, and we FADE OUT to Credits)
