Glen Fredericks

I was six years old when Star Wars was released in 1977 and some 22 years later when Episode I came out I took my son to the Australian premiere to see it. He too was six.

So I felt like I came full circle.

As well as writing and drawing anything to do with Star Wars I also enjoy writing and drawing other things too. I've had 8 short stories published in Australian magazines, a few articles, some regular cartoon strips and an illustration here and there. It's more of a hobby right now but if I keep plugging away I'm sure something's going to give sooner or later. I just hope it isn't my sanity.

Last year I done a full time course in Digital Arts & Media at the Hunter Street Campus of the Hunter Institute Of Technology. A far cry from the mechanical engineering trade that I done my apprenticeship in Fitting and Machining.

My aim was somewhere between being a Graphic Artist or a Web Designer. Print or the Internet. But with the media lines becoming more and more blurred perhaps I can end up doing a bit of everything.

As its panned out I've been teaching at the Hunter Institute of Technology (Newcastle Campus) in Web Design. Teaching and 'Doing' has also seen me go down to Tasmania to help create a Document Management System (at a Tin Mine) that surmounts to a web browser accessible directory. So far it's around 300 HTML pages and over 2000 links. Another trip is planned soon to add the documents.

I have myself an online portfolio and a few websites in the works. When I'm not thinking of Star Wars or on the computer I like to play with my kids (four of 'em) or sipping on a cold Pepsi watching a movie.
