Comics!

Mr Canoehead! Yes, believe it or not, there was at least one comic-book adaptation of one of The Frantic's most popular characters: Mr. Canoehead.

The selections that appear on this page are derived from a special anthology called Canadian Comics Cavalcade that was published back in 1986 by Gideon Steinberg, editor and publisher at artworx. This special 40 page issue brought together a number of different Canadian comic book artists as a special fundraiser whose procedes went to Canadian foodbanks.

The story used in this comic was derived from a special two-part Mr. Canoehead episode called "Mr. Canoehead vs The Mole Monks" that appeared on Show #73, broadcast during the fourth season of the show. The artwork was done by Anthony van Bruggen and the lettering by Stig Alighieri.

To my knowledge this is the one and only time any of The Frantics characters appeared in comic book format.

Thanks go to Tom Turrittin for doing the scans, and to Bryan Feir for loaning his very clean copy of Canadian Comics Cavalcade to Tom in the first place.

Warning! Lots of large images on this page!
