"Resolution" from the Mahavishnu Orchestra's album ~Birds Of Fire~, is a surviving 
John McLaughlin theme from his 'Tony Williams Lifetime', and "Devotion" (LP) days, 
later tailored into this form. See the published form at ~Pages of Fire~ i.e.,

 The triadic motion here is one of McLaughlin's early trademarks. He knew the  triads,
 he knew the neck.
 Experiment? Here: you can tune 'A' String to 'Bb' and play the cycle 
    A...B...BbMi7 (DbMa) ...EbMa... 
up and dOWn with one ($$$)one-finger voicing over open "Bb" ,as a track rythym chord ,
once you find your own alternate single note lead line. But, re-tune to A for
this TAB!

The static harmony pedal bass Bb gives every triad a different flavour.
