BEN HARPER AND THE INNOCENT CRIMINALS
HISTORY
Born In California, Ben was surrounded by music from an early age, growing up with blues, folk, soul, R&B, and reggae. By his preteens Ben was performing regularly and took up the slide guitar as a teen.
Ben's career took off when he was noticed playing with Taj Mahal and in 1992 he was signed to Virgin Records only to release his debut album "Welcome To The Cruel World" in 1994.
Ben's follow up album "Fight For Your Mind" contains very strong political and social issues as did his debut. His third album "The WIll To Live" took a new direction and was embraced by many people. It was this album that helped introduce Ben Harper to mainstream audiences.
His follow up album "Burn To Shine" acknowledged his band, changing to Ben Harper and The Innocent Criminals and yet again it was embraced by the critics and the public alike.
Ben has built up a reputation for having an outstanding live show presence which he utilised by releasing a double cd live album "Live From Mars" in 2001.
