BEN LEE
HISTORY
Ben Lee a local Sydneysider shot to fame in 1993 as the lead singer of Noise Addict at the age of 14. Recording a number of EP the band was favourably received in both Australia and the US. Catching the attention artists like Evan Daddo (Lemonheads), Mike D (Beastie Boys) and Thurston Moore (Sonic Youth).
During a break from Noise Addicts in 1995 Ben recorded his first solo album, "Grandpaw Would", with the help of producer Brad on Grand Royal, the same label as Noise Addict.
Despite returning to Noise addicts to record another album the band soon broke up blaming scheduling conflicts and varying interests.
Ben again teamed up with Brad Wood to record his second solo album entitled "Something To Remember Me By" in 1997 which solidified his ability as a solo artist and also saw him base himself permanently in LA. While Grandpaw Would was filled with simple easy going songs this album portrayed a more mature sound, and dealt with more complex ideas, while still holding true to acoustic styling Ben Lee has become known for.
His latest album "Breathing Tornadoes" was produced by Ed Buller and released in 1999 to critical acclaim.
