JEFF BUCKLEY
HISTORY
Born in Anaheim, California on November 17th, 1966 Jeffrey Scott Buckley was the only son of Mary Guibert and Tim Buckley. Raised with his half-brother Corey Moorehead by Mary and Ron Moorehead, Jeff became very close to Ron and was know to family and friends as Scotty Moorehead.
Around 10 and long after Mary and Ron had divorced Jeff went back to being called Jeff Buckley after getting fed up with the names he was being called at school.
At 18 Jeff moved to LA where he completed a 2 year course at the Musicians' Institute. While in Los Angeles he joined "Shinehead" a reggae band. In 1990 Jeff moved to New York and in 1991 performed at a tribute concert for his late father Tim, it was there that he was to met Gary Lucas who was the guitarist for "Gods and Monsters". Jeff joined "Gods and Monsters" only to leave in 1992 to start his solo career. Jeff signed onto Columbia Records in October 1992 after performing covers at various cafes especially at Sin-é an Irish pub in the East Village.
After finishing only one studio album Jeff's life was tragically cut short after a swimming accident in Memphis, Tennessee where he was working on the follow up to Grace.
