POWDERFINGER

HISTORY

Originating in Brisbane as a high school band, Powderfinger was formed around 1989 by John Collins, Ian Haug and Steve Bishop.  Bernard Fanning was added after meeting Ian at University where they also met Jon Coghill.  Darren Middleton joined later on.

In 1993 they released 2 eps, the first resulted in meetings with various record companies.  Powderfinger eventually sign on with Polydor.  The second EP knocked Nirvana's "Heart Shaped Box" off the number 1 spot.

1994 saw the release of their first album "Parables For Wooden Ears" which was poorly received.  Despite which they continued to churn out eps and in September 1996 they released their second album "Double Allergic"  which put Powderfinger back on the charts in Australia.

Their latest two albums have been widely received by both the critics and the public and have resulted in numerous awards for the band.
