The Backstreet Boys received their first award from Canada partly in thanks to the loyal fans of Montreal, Quebec. From Brian's suggestion, the Backstreet Boys were named after Orlando's Backstreet Market. Their debut album, Backstreet Boys, was released in Europe May 5th, 1996. The Boys have been banned from various hotels in Europe because their fans have gotten out of control. The group unanimously agrees that they would love to harmonize with Boyz II Men. Their first album was partly recorded at Altamonte, Florida. Their first group performance was May 8, 1993 at Sea World. While on tour in Germany, the Boys caused a chase scene. The BSB had to stop a few shows when they were worried that fans would hurt themselves. In Canada, Celine Dion is the only other artist to sell more albums. When asked where the strangest place they have performed was, the Boys answer a pet shop over the P.A. system. In an appearance on Sabrina: The Teenage Which, the group drank "talent juice" which was actually orange flavored Kool-Aid. Their favorite cover tune is Shai's "If I Ever Fall In Love." Some of the places which the Backstreet Boys have performed include: a high school gymnasium, BBC's Top of the Pops, Grad Night at Sea World, and an opening slot for Brandy. While on tour, their shows frequently sell out in under 20 minutes. Their first song was recorded in Stockholm, Sweden.
