DEUCE BIGALOW, MALE GIGOLO R
Starring Rob Schneider, Eddie Griffin, William Forsythe, and Oded Fehr

Eric says: ** (2)
A very un-even comedy that ultimately fails. Rob Schneider is a fish tank cleaner who, through "hilarious" circumstances, has to take a job as a male escort. Schneider is effective in the role, seeming to have gotten himself into shape for all the bare-chested scenes. Unfortunately, he is made to act around some of the lamest gags. Very little is introduced that isn't already given away in the trailers.
The only real kudos go out to Eddie Griffin as man-pimp T.J.  Not only is he given the best lines and scenarios, but he knows what to do with them. I would be hard-pressed (ouch) to find a single scene with Griffin that wasn't funny. Sadly, those are the only funny ones. The audience and I were put off by everything William Forsythe was given to do. Very odd. Deuce's girlfriend is sweetly played by an actress that looks amazingly similar to Jamie Luner, but isn't. No one else is of any importance.
The entire film felt like Adam Sandler decided to put The Waterboy, the Naked Gun movies, a touch of Austin Powers, and the anti-P.C.side of There's Something About Mary into a blender, strain out all the funny parts, and pour the remaining unsuccessful gags into a cup and call it "Deuce".
Eddie Griffin fans will enjoy. Everyone else, stay away. Please. It's for your own good.

  our review of the preview:
DEUCE BIGALOW: MALE GIGOLO
Rob Schneider finally gets a comedy to call his own as a fish tank cleaner who is forced to make like Valentino. Produced by Adam Sandler. I am expecting high brow humour that stimulates my intellect. You know, like "Waterboy".
