It was an unforgettable ninety minute send-off to a television classic. Jam-packed full of both hilarious and heartwarming retrospectives, the HOME IMPROVEMENT series finale is destined
to be remembered as one of television's finest moments.
The first half hour of the special was comprised of dozens of clips taken from episodes from each of the show's eight seasons, and reminded us all of the many reasons why HOME IMPROVEMENT has
touched the lives of families around the world.
Next up was the final installment in the "Long and Winding Road"--HOME IMPROVEMENT's last story arc. The episode featured Tim's final "Tool Time" episode (with special guests Mario Andretti and the K&B All-Tool Band) and the long-hoped for wedding of Al and Trudy, who finally tied the knot in a lovely ceremony in the Taylors' backyard.
Meanwhile, Jill made the tough decision to accept the job offer in Indiana. Unbeknownst to her, however, was the fact that the Binford power suits had offered Tim the chance to be "Tool Time's" executive producer. Not wanting to get in the way of Jill's career plans, Tim decided not to tell her about Binford's change of heart.
It was a touching moment when Jill found out that Tim was willing to sacrifice "Tool Time" for her. At the end of the episode, Tim and Jill were still undecided about making the big move. The episode ended with Tim imagining how he could move the house to Indiana, as well as his family.
Rounding out the HOME IMPROVEMENT finale was a thirty minute "Backstage Pass" special, which featured many never-before-scene "bloopers" from the show, exclusive footage from the final taping, and the moment fans have been waiting eight years to see . . . actor Earl Hindman (Wilson) revealed his entire face--at last!--during the final curtain call.
The Taylor's final farewell certainlly touched the heart of any true HI fan. I was angry that Jonathan didn't bother to come to film the final episode. He has bitter feelings towards Tim Allen for a comment he made, but I feel he could have put those feelings aside to film the last EVER episode of the television series that made him the star he is today. He's an actor; he could have acted happy to be there. Oh well. He'll regret it someday.

After seven years as Randy Taylor on ABC's hit Home Improvement, Jonathan Taylor Thomas announced that he will be leaving the show. Jonathan says he wants to have more time to focus on getting into a high university and he will definatly miss the cast and all the laughs. ABC says Jonathan will be in at least three epiosdes; the first two of the season and the holiday episode. I think this is the beginning of the end. As a formerly obsessed JTT fanatic, I can say that he is the reason I started watching and have continued to do so. His absence from the show will definatly be noticed and he will be missed. However, being the same age as him, I can say that this is definatly best for him and I support his decision and hope others will too.

Well, Tuesday was the big night. After seven years, Jonathan left the show. Randy and his girlfriend headed off to Costa Rica. ABC sure advertised this the same way as "The Longest Day" a couple seasons ago. Since it was so built up, I had built high expectations for this episode, and was slightly disappointed. But it was still awesome. I'm sure it's a safe bet that the cast all had a hard time filming that episode. I guess the next time we'll see Jonathan will be at Christmas.
