Touched By An Angel Appreciation Letters

Click here to see peoples answers to a survey Tirzah, a senior at North Central University, put out about Touched By An Angel and why people like the show.

I'm a single woman in my mid 20's, and I just adore TBAA. I guess its because people always want to avoid the subject of God on tv. "Its not politically correct." It takes guts to take a series and completely dedicate it to the theme "God Loves You." Especially in an age of Martial artist cops, and the dead coming back to avenge injustice with more violence. So to stay on TV for 5 seasons (hopefully more) with wonderful messages of hope and love...its something I can definately respect. I absolutely adore Della Reese. (I'm a singer and actress myself, and Della is like my musical mentor.) TBAA is my first time being introduced to Roma Downey and I must say she is a fantastic actress! And what can I say about John Dye? My favorite actor since "best of the best"...a very handsome, and talented man. All I can say is... John Dye Forever!! :-)
I hope everyone on the show, writers...stars...supporting cast and the crew... keep up the great work they're doing!! (And if there are any auditions open...hey...let me know. -)

I started watching TBAA with the first airing of "Something Blue." (The wedding episode where Monica is a wedding consultant and Andrew is the psycho-videocamera boy!) Actually what happened was I found out Edward Kerr was guest starring on TBAA so I taped it but didn't watch it until months later when I was in a really bad spot spiritually. I popped the tape in one day, watched it and it was like a blanket had been lifted from my eyes. I felt so free and happy. And I've been watching ever since. What keeps me going back is the constant reassurance that GOD LOVES ME and the peace I feel after watching an episode.
Anyway...I'm off now. Happy TBAA watching to you all!

****Angelic Dreams****
Inspired by watching TBAA

This morning I awoke to a feeling so serene
Warmth, love and understanding had filled my dreams
I could still envision the halo of light shining bright
Surrounding the angels around me in flight
Their smiling faces, endearing and sweet
Welcomed me into their heavenly fleet
They lifted me up into their warm glowing peace
Harmonious singing began and never ceased
A feeling of belonging washed through my soul
A missing piece of my heart now became whole
I joined in with their choir and song praising God
When it was time to awake, they just gave a nod
But before I left this place so dear
A small wee angel whispered into my ear
"Never forget the place you have been
For only in your dreams, can it be seen
And remember always in your time of despair
He'll send you an angel, to remind you he cares

I know that we are all devastated about the terrible situation in Denver. I think the first question in everyone's mind is "why"??? Well, I know that there have been many situations in my own life when I asked God "why did this happen?", and just couldn't get passed the anger that God *allowed* the tragedy to happen. Then, along came TBAA, and sure enough, it has covered some of these very situations that have left me frustrated. They dealt with the very issues I haven't been able to come to terms with. The show was able to help me deal with my feelings, and show me that God does indeed care, and it enabled me to let go of the anger and frustration, and assured me that God is with me through every moment of my life, no matter what. I know that not every episode is a favorite with everybody who watches it; but I know that *someone*, *somewhere*, is being helped and reassured that God does love them and is with them every step of the way. The show seems as if it were written specifically for them, and helps put all the pieces together, and then they are able to carry on without the heavy burden they've been carrying way too long. For a television show to be able to do this is a miracle in itself, in my opinion.

God Bless,
Teri
I like to congratulation for your t.v. show, is very positive.
I saw every sunday at cable tv in puerto rico.
The tv station need more t.v. show like this.

Ana Tirado
I like to congratulation for your T.V. show.
I saw every sunday in cable T.V., is a positive program.
The T.V. stations needs programs like that, that can give some peace and hope to the people in this planet.
And again thank you for your work.

I'm not a writer, so I'm just gonna go a head with my story. My name is Tara and I'm 21y/o who loves to sing and play music. I am studying to become a music teacher. I love watching PL and TBAA. The stories inspire me. The one that I like the most is THe Pact. That hits so close to home. You see, I have full blon AIDS and I've had it since I was 7 from a blood transfusion in 1984. (I was diagnosed in 1992) I am doing ok now and feeling fine. I like the pact becuase when I first found out, I was very depressed and asked myself why me? I felt like these kids in thinking hey why can't we say when we should die? But I know that wasn't the answer. I love life and live it too my fullest. I have lots of friends and a family who loves me. They all know about your show because I talk about it so much! My favorite actor is John dye. I love della and roma too. But I feel closer to the AOD becuase I know that someday I'm gonna go to heaven. I hope that I will have an angel like Andrew. As! for John, I think he is a sweet (even though he's no angel) Lovable wonderful person. I hope the show will go on for a long time because it is a one true show that I enjoy watching.

Touched by an angel has been a tremendous help to me as I've coped with my in dangered religous beleifs and the loss of my father. My dad has been dead for 10 of my 17 years and I miss him so much. In fact, I miss him so much that I always feel the sence of emptiness and I often cry for him. The charactor of Andrew has been the most help because it is comforting to think that you are not alone when you die. That has always been a huge fear of mine. I am LDS and living in Utah around other LDS people has it's advantages and major disadvanges. The number one disadvantage is because you are so much like everyone eles that it is hard to have a true rock hard belief in the Lord and all thats good because you are almost trained to beleive such things. John Dye is almost like a hidden example of the father I lost and it is very comforting to watch him every week. I would do anything to have him put his arms around me just once because I know I would feel a fathers love in his arms.

Touched by an Angel,
such an inlighting show,
lifts up your spirits
in sun, rain, ice, or even snow!

This show is so uplifting,
it brings your faith back out.
And in this world overcome by violence
this is something you don't want to go without!

This show will put you up there,
leave you feeling high.
So high you would have to go down,
just to touch the sky!

It leaves you feeling good
'bout what every you may do.
It reminds you of all the good things
you may have once knew!

It brings out feelings of goodness,
hope, love, and carring, too!
It tells you that God loves you,
and is there no matter what you do!

I'm an Angel Sent by God
by Chris.

I'm an angel sent by God
To show His love for you,
I'm an angel sent by God
To show His mercy, too.

Our God will always love you
No matter where you roam,
He always sends an angel
To find and lead you home.

Please don't try to run from Him
It only causes pain,
He only wants to heal you
To mend what's halt and lame.

I'm an angel sent by God
Listen close to what I say,
In things that seem impossible
Our God can find a way.

He cares so very tenderly
He wants to give you hope,
In every situation
He longs to help you cope.

Our Lord will never leave you
He longs to show His care,
So look when you're in trouble
His angel will be there.

From the moment
as a star burns bright
you'll feel you're
in the sky above

with every silver lining
there is a heaven
where Angels watch
over us

We're not alone
there are Angels with us
as though we can't see them
it doesn't mean they're not there

Every time as we look in the sky
and it seems blue or grey
we are part of them
they are part of us
that is how we get Touched by An Angel

On "Great Expectations"

Something they said in the ep made me think of all the families in Columbine, who are now having to deal with the reality that they now have to care for a child with damage to the brain or any other parts of the body, and how they will still love that child regardless, even though their child has come back different than how she or he was before they left for school that day. There's a message in that ep for any parent who has to deal with a child who has been changed for one reason or another.

Big Hugs,
Sara
Hi I would just like to say what a wonderful show Touched By An Angel is. I have watched every show and every show has moved me in a great way. The actors are great. The storylines are great. There has not been a episode that has not touched me. Thank God for TBAA.

God Bless, Shirley
To whomever mentioned that if TBAA can save just one person with each epsiode, it's worth it...I must say...each episode has helped me become stronger in the many different aspects of my life.It has taught me how to communicate and has taught me how to help others and I must say that TBAA and Promised Land are the only two tv. shows I watch.

May God Bless

On "Black Like Monica"

Even my usually stoic husband said, after watching the tape of this particular ep, "Wow, that was a really strong show"
Right now, I can't tell the reason why I watch this show but I've been taping all episodes an I've been watching them endlessly. Maybe it's because I believe in Angels and I have a tremendous Faith in the Lord's power to make our lives wonderful or because I do believe in every single lesson we learn from each story or because I've been in many situations like the ones featured in the show. I do believe this is one of the best quality shows to watch these days in order to keep all of our blessed spirits and souls together to make a better world...and believe me, we really change things for better...

Blessings for All,
Marthy

I would just like to thank you for putting such an uplifting and touching television show on the air. I have been watching since the second episode. The show has really reminded me that someone does love me no matter how bad I mess up. The show has also helped me to help other people to. Thanks for everything.

A poem put together by the TBAA list angelites.

Sara:
There was a trio of Angels
Their friends, a dove and a Dawg
They traveled around bringing messages
Of Love, to people, from God."

Ali:
"In times of trouble and pain
They are always around
To comfort and give us hope
And occasionally to astound!"

Leigh:
"They appear at a needy moment
When life has thrown you a curve.
Their mission and message are simple,
For a loving God they serve."

Audrey:
"They help you through the best they can
And show you the way Home.
And let you know you're loved
And that you're never alone"

Barbara:
"They come in many disguises,
their love and help to impart.
The only thing that is always the same,
Is the love of God in each angel's heart."

Sharon:
"If ever you need an angel
You just say a little prayer
And then before you know it
Your angel shall be there"

Jarrod:
"With Hearts of Joy and Laughter
They bring Angel Lights
and Angel Sounds
To teach about the everafter."

Lynn:
"In those times when you start to think
That life has just become too much
Suddenly the burden lifts
And you know that you've been touched!"

They lend their voices to the One above
What comfort and joy their message brings
Behold the greatness of God's love."

They invite all the human race
To join in the singing and adoration."

There appears a wonderous sight;
Andrew, Tess, and Monica
Bathed in God's Holy Light!"

hcolleen/Heather:

They bring, without a flutter of wings
With earnest love and gentle words,
Hope to the hopeless they bring"

Mary:
"Whenever we have fallen,
When the pain has gotten deep,
They offer us a sweet word,
And hold us while we weep."

A Touching Story about the effects TBAA can have on even young children.

Stephanie (5) and I (a lot older! LOL) were pottering around the garden yesterday, chatting away about gardens, and how things grow. Weeding and watering, when from out of the blue came this little conversation.
"God loves YOU Mum!"
I am surprised, happy, elated, in wonder and amazed all at the same time.
"Yes he does."
"And God loves Mannie too!" Her little sister. And this time I feel very proud of her.
"yes he does."
"And God loves me too."
I go and hug her and kiss her on her head. I feel love and loved.
"yes he does."
"Is God a boy or a girl mum?"
I laugh, and say "Well God must be a boy, cause we say HE! What do you think?"
We discuss God, and whether he is a boy or a girl. This is very serious, but fun, cause Steph isnt into boys. 'Boys are rotten, made from cotton'.
She decides God is a girl, cause "boys are dumb and girls are cool". I wont argue, or tell her different, she is only five. And I dont think God minds either, I'm sure he has a sense of humor too. She knows she is loved by God and so is everyone else she loves. She knows God is there.
She learned this from a Television show called Touched By an Angel. The only show I am happy for her to watch. A show that can that can teach love, respect, compassion, forgiveness, and all those other traits one should strive for within ones day and within ones life, is fine by me.
Everything else she watches is entertainment.
TBAA is her souls education.

Sara
Touched By An Angel helps give me the strenght to carry on each week.

TBAA lifts my hopes & faith and makes me believe that there are morals & good folks in today's corrupted society, and the fact that both TBAA and 7th Heaven are doing so well ratings-wise, shows that people are craving wholesome clean-cut entertainment like TBAA!.

Amazing when you think of it- how not only did TBAA end up surviving, but being CBS's strongest show ratings wise.... The critics just didn't get it, and in the beginning were essentially saying that it was practically dead on arrival, predicting that a wholesome show in today's environment wouldn't have a prayer of a chance. Well, we fans understand what it's all about & TBAA became "the little show that could". Lots of folks still make fun of TBAA even today and still don't understand what it's all about, but in my humble opinion more and more are discovering the best drama with a heart, the drama that offers hope.

On the episode entitled "Hearts"

This one hit home to me alot becuase I had a friend named Andrea who died when she was 17. She had heart troubles and had a couple of years left. That's what they said... But three weeks later, she was dead. She had a hole in her heart. She dreamed of being a wonderful actress. She is always signing up for drama at the school play. She would have made an excellent actress in the real world. Today, I believe that she is my gaurdian angel. I always have this feeling that she never left my side after she died. She also had another best friend too. We both believe that Andrea is watching over us and her family. I cried at this episode becuase it was a dejavu... i've been there before. I don' t think that Andrea was waiting for a heart transplant becuase she was such in bad shape and everytime she had a surgery, she would collapse in a coma for a few days. Well, I just wanted to tell you my story.

Tara
I am grateful for the Touched By An Angel show. I like all the angels who plays on that show. I especially like the episode called For the Grace of God.

On "Black Like Monica"

The transition from what she was to what she wasn't used to is not foreign to many of us strange as that may seem. I know where and how Monica felt, for I too have made that sort of transition and people that once knew you now don't know you or want to know you. You are treaterd different by all even those in the know as exemplified by Tess and the sheriff her physical shape did not alter only her color and how blind we can be as a society we only see what society says we shall see black is black white is white and in my case male is male and female female. Yet I know that feeling of rejection and lostness that Monica was feeling on last nights episode, I know that feeling of wanting to be accepted and be in the know of what is happening. I too as Monica in the cemetery have had times where i have cried out to be the old me to be safe and or spared un harmed and safe as the person the world knows. There are many people who are born with effects they have no control over much like monica had no control over what was happening to her that when they happen or when they make the transition they don't know what to do with it or where to turn the world looks down their noses at them. It was this very same thing that in a way turned two young boys to revenge and unfortunately not God. We need to educate our children and our neighbors to more tolerant to those that are different from us to love ass God calls us to love unconditionally and without strings or judgement call. In closing I too, like Monica, regret crying out for my saftey rather than my sanity rather than being content with how the heavenly Father made me and learning to live with it. And being proud of the creature God has made in each one of us and helping our brothers and sisters be all they can be with what God gave them. Sometimes even in life we need to stop lurking and stand for the underdog stand for what we know is right not in mans eyes but what is right in Gods eyes. And Miss Parks is a prime example of that thank you miss parks, thank you my beloved angel friends.

Tiffani B.
I have to say, I think it's to TBAA's credit that people of such widely varying belief systems can all find inspiration from the same show about God!

Laura
I'm a fairly new fan but I absolutely adore this show. Somehow it always manages to give us hope and strength.

Becca (:
Touched By An Angel is special. A show that admits we human are imperfect beings who all sin but God still loves us and we are all unique and special to God. Let us continue to love oneanother, tolerate those that may be different from us, & show compassion and mercy to all.

Love and peace to you all,
Brian
My favorite episode was Psalm 151. I saw it right after my dad died and it brought a lot of comfort to me.

MissyAnn
I watch the show because it makes me happy. It makes me feel as though I am never alone and that I am loved. There is nothing more important than that.

ACES
I think most of us who watch TBaA dont watch it because it is a politically correct show or even that it preaches what ever our own denomination or religion is. We watch it for the good family show it is, that it doesnt pass judgement on someone just because he/she is from a different slab of concrete, or that our *piece of wood* has a flaw in it. We do see the reprecussions as humans when our freewill allows us to make a mistake, but it doesnt condemn us for it. It opens to many people all over the world that there is a God and that God Loves Us!! To many on this list it is probably hard to picture living in a society that has no idea or concept of God period. I cant even fathom the thought on what that might be like.

Bunny/Karen
"God will help you through this- thorugh this- not around it."
-Andrew in "Labor of Love"

Everytime something in my life goes wrong or whatever I just stick that tape in and listen to him say that. You'd swear he was talking just to you- the way he looks- his eyes bore in my soul.

Sabrina
I think TBAA is to be praised for depicting people of different races and religions on the show.

Miracle Girl
I was glad to see TBAA's position in the VL with such a sense of love. And that's one of the reasons why I love the show. God loves you no matter what you did, who you are, or where you're from, or whether you believe in Him or not. I don't remember an episode when they didn't say "God loves you."

Kim
I'm only 12 years old but already I love Touched by an Angel. I started watching when I was 9. My cousin got me started. We would watch every Sunday evening waiting for Roma to say those classic words: "God loves you, you've got to know that." We loved the show. The show has helped me physically, emotionally and spiritually.
Physically: I would find that even after just a couple of months of watching if I missed my weekly 'Touched' I would have trouble getting through the week. I would feel like something was missing.
Emotionally: Through-out the week if I found myself getting depressed I could always look back at the show and remember that God loves me and there is hope.
Spiritually: Being a pastor's kid you get such a large dose of church and God that sometimes you don't care anymore. Touched by an Angel has opened my eyes to see that some people are spiritually less fortunate. That since I grew up in a christian home I've been trained in the way I should go. Sometimes people think they have to just live with their problems but I know that I can always take mine to God. While I don't always enjoy church, Touched by an Angel has shown me how lucky I am.
I am so glad that some one took the time to make a show that can touch everyone's lives. Religious or not, this show is bringing people closer to God. I think this is the most heartwarming and uplifting show on TV today.

I LOVE TOUCHED BY AN ANGEL SO MUCH!!! I love to hear GOD LOVES YOU!!!!! I feel like they are talking to me. I have felt unloved all my life and I believe Touched By An Angel is an divine appointment for me! I would give anything to meet Roma,John, and Della! Roma Downey is my hero and Della is an inspiration. John makes me not afraid of death. I have always felt like an outcast and Touched By An Angel makes me feel so loved. Touched By An Angel ministers to my heart and it makes me feel like God is hugging me and taking care of me. I wish I could meet angels daily to teach me about God's love. Thank you Touched By An Angel for giving me love every week and for teaching me about God's love. I send you lots of love and hugs for touching my life.

Christy Cleghorn
Through TBaA every week of the season for 5 yrs now I can tune into this show and here God Loves Me. There is a reason for hope, and that I am not being punished by God for something that I did when I was younger. Every week this show inspires me and reinforces what I knew already and learned in church. God Loves Me! I can't hear it often enough.
Yes, many shows have brought me to tears, either out of relating to the storyline in some way, out of happiness, out of hope, what ever the excuse is. Sometimes just hearing God Loves Me! What wonderful words to hear on t.v. every week. Yes the show also has shown me that there are many, much worse off than I am, but I already knew that! The difference is I am shown again that God Loves Me ... God Loves You!
I have a favorite saying *God doesn't hate you for being human, He made you that way*! Yes thank you TBaA for having the courage to tell the world every week ... God Loves You!!

~ Angels In My Heart ~

When I have no one to turn to
And I am feeling kind of low
When there is no one here to talk to
And no where I really want to go
I search deep within myself
It is the love inside my heart
That lets me know my Angels are there
Even though we are many miles apart
A smile then appears upon my face
And the sun begins to shine
I hear a voice, so soft and sweet
Saying, 'Everything will be just fine'
It may seem that I am alone
But I am never by myself at all
Whenever I need my Angels near
All I have to do is call
An Angel's love is always true
On that you can always depend
They will always stand behind you
And will always be your friend

~ Author Unknown ~

One of the reasons I enjoy TBAA is because there are situations where I can relate to the characters and the experiences they've been through and because, as many of the characters happen to find out, in one way or the other, God always makes sure to let us know that He loves us, no matter what. And sometimes we do not understand that right away, but there is always a turning point where we find that out and it is comforting, and it makes a different in our lives.
I've been through many difficult experiences in my life. I'm only 25 years old but I've faced tough times altogether with my family. There were times when I felt I was in the bottom of a dark, cold, wishing well and there was a dim ray of light far away from the place I was. But I knew that the light would come closer and would get me out. And through many wonderful people, and means, I felt the love of God and it was warm and confident and the day,I realized that, the day I understood that God loves me and you and everyone in this universe, I found the courage to move on and change all bad things into good things, and I felt, inside myself that love that God was filling me with. And once I felt that, I found the strength, the peace, the understanding and the will to let that love be my life. And everything changed...and it has since...
So, yes, there is a show that reinforces that notion and that makes us feel great about it and confident about it. And yes, hearing those words in difficult times really makes a difference. Isn't it hard to find that kind of information on the media nowadays?
