Pierce Brosnan

Born: Ireland, May 16, 1952

Pierce Brosnan became the "new" James Bond 007 on June 8, 1994 after Timothy Dalton resigned the part because of swirling controversy. He became a "Bond for the 90's" as they touted at the press conference. Brosnan brought in a new Bond with a charm, and a less dangerous mentality then Timothy Dalton. Brosnan was originally contending for the part back in 1986, when "The Living Daylights" was being made, but couldn't get out of his "Remington Steele" contract with NBC. In my mind, I'm glad he didn't.

Pierce Brosnan is a lighter Bond than Dalton, with less of a seriousness to him, and a less unpredictability then the previous Bonds. Brosnan does show off his ability to be dangerous by jumping off of a dam, and by sky diving to an airplane. Brosnan should be an excellent Bond, he just needs more experience.
