ET: The guy who played opposite Hugh, RHYS
IFANS -- what a scene-stealer this guy was!
Tell me about working with him.
Julia: Well, on paper, it's a terrific part. He's
the crazy, outrageous, madman! And dare I
say it was taken to another level even! It was
really difficult in those scenes, because I'm
always completely straight faced around
Spike, which was an enormous acting challenge for me. He's so
outrageous and funny, but he was just terrific.
ET: Romantic comedy is just a niche that you fill so perfectly.
It's got to be hard to move away from that.
Julia: Well, it's hard to find good romantic comedies that are
original and fresh. When I find one, I get so excited.
ET: And 'Runaway Bride' is coming out in the summer. Does it
fall in the same category?
Julia: Yes, but it's so different. I play a completely different
person. It was really fun. She's so All-American, and to have
been here making this movie which I loved so much, and then
to go and play someone who's very blue jeans and down home,
was a nice change.
