2002 information

Official deadline: January 31st, 2002
Notification date: June 1st, 2002

The Underexposed 2002 has officially commenced. As always, all feature-length scripts are eligible, regardless of genre, tone or sensibility. As in previous years, all contestants will receive feedback. We cannot guarantee instant success to our finalists; but we do promise a supportive, writer-friendly, honest contest. The prizes are as follows:

1st: $4000
2nd: $1000
3rd: $500

We will spread the word, notifying agents, producers, and industry professionals. In both 2000 and 2001 we placed an ad in the Hollywood Reporter announcing the finalists.

Here's what you need to do: Submit a first-rate script, with (1) a compelling narrative, (2) intriguing/developed characters, and (3) a strong visual identity.

Please read through the following rules, and as always, contact us with any questions or concerns.

E-mail: jomopro@yahoo.com

The Rules

  1. Submitted scripts should not have already been optioned, or purchased.

  2. Scripts should be feature-length (roughly 80-130 pages).

  3. Scripts should be bound, and in standard screenplay format. If unsure of proper format, please make a trip to the local bookstore!

  4. Your name, address, and phone number should NOT appear anywhere on the script, including the cover page. This is to guarantee completely fair judging, allowing no possible biases.

  5. Scripts will not be returned.

  6. We will not accept revisions or added pages once scripts are received.

  7. Collaborations are fine. Award prizes will be divided equally among the writers.

  8. Please print clearly and legibly all necessary information on official application.

  9. You will not be penalized for not answering optional questions on application. This information will not be available to judges, and is used solely for demographics.

  10. Include with your script the application, making sure to sign and date where appropriate. Also include a non-refundable check, or money order, made payable to JOMO Productions, in the amount of US $30.00.

  11. We WILL confirm the receipt of your script. Please make sure the email address and/or phone number supplied is correct.

  12. Don't be afraid to contact us with any questions or concerns you have.

  13. Though this really isn't a rule, please check your script carefully for all typos. This may sound silly, but even a small typo momentarily throws a reader away from your story.
