Collectibles of the 60s

As soon as Batman aired in 1966, Batmania swept the country. Everything from Batman Trading Cards to beach towels were produced. Many companies who had nothing to do with comics or Batman were trying to benefit from the show's success. From 1965 (some collectibles were made before the first show aired) to 1968, hundreds of items were made bearing the "Batman" name. Here you'll find many of items that I have collected over the years from the 60s and 70s! Enjoy!

Batman Theme Record

A Batman Theme Record made in 1966.
Original Batman TV Show theme by Neal
Hefti.

Aurora Racecar
Aurora Racecar that looks exactly like
the Batmobile of the show. It is very
detailed, to say the least. This particular
one is in great shape (close to near-mint).
One of the harder-to-find pieces.

1966 Glasses

Tumble glasses with pictures of Batman
and Robin running. A more common
item, but still neat.

BatLamp

Batman figural lamp from 1966.
probably used for more of a nightlight
than a lamp (not bright enough to
use as a stand-alone room light. the
entire figure lights up.

Batman Lunch Box
This Batman lunch box was made by Aladdin.
It displays scenes of the Batcave and villains
on the sides, with Batman and Robin fighting a
criminal on the front and saving a citizen in
a fire on the back. Condition is good/fair on
this. I'm looking for a better one!

Batman Ideal Figures

Batman and Robin Ideal figures, which
would have come in a set of three with
Batman, Robin, and Joker. No markings
on bottom. Batman has a broken batarang.

Batman Mugs

Milk glass mugs with a figural image of
Batman and Robin running on one side
and a portrait of their face on the
other side.

Batman Towel

A beach towel with Batman and Robin
racing in their Batmobile. In very nice
shape except that I could not make
out the date, but looking at the style
of the car, it appears to have been
produced in 1966.

The 1966 reprint of a 1953 Batman 3D book.
It included photos on the insides of the covers
of Batman and Robin in the Batmobile and the
Batlab. Also included were your very own
Batman 3D glasses!

Put your 3-D glasses on and click here!

This is a Robin pin that would have
been in bubble gum machines in the
60s. Just a few cents back then!

A bicycle license plate with Robin's name
and picture. They also one with Batman and
another with both the caped crusaders swinging
from ropes.

Batman Bat-Laff Series card wrapper.
It would have contained four cards and a
stick of gum. Total cost back then would
have been a full nickel. On the side there
is an offer for an indian headdress kit
costing 250 Bazooka comics!
